My opinion on the change to palomino
-
Maybe it’s just me but I prefer when chocolate palominos were slightly darker then they are now. These are all het DP but shouldn’t they be a bit darker then they are? They seem so yellow to me and just look like regular palominos.
Sorry for complaining I just figured feedback is important!
Heres a batch I just bred

Heres my older darker ones

I noticed very few of your "previous" batch had Sty+ and were mostly HOM Sty ; and most of your new batch is Het Sty+ ; that might be causing some of the "amber" effect on the new foals, they are definitely darker than most of the Palomino's in game tho :)Thanked by 1Ammit

Feedback is always helpful. :) I will add though that we have another tweak incoming once gray goes out that will change things slightly again so what you are seeing now won't be staying permanently.
Here are two of your horses with near-identical genetics and 4 darkening alleles.
BL2 SDS 15552249
BL3 13826348
I am not seeing the foal as notably lighter than the adult horse.
On these three allele horses the foal is definitely not the same color as the adult.
BL2 SDS 15552251
BL1 swan song
I pulled them into photoshop to compare and pulled an average value pixel from the chest area of each horse.
Comparing them I don't know that the older version is particularly darker as it is just less saturated making it look darker. The actual hue has not moved even a smidge. They are the same hue they have always been, but yes there is a change in saturation for sure. I am going to wait until the red value changes go in before making any additional tweaks though.
Feedback is super helpful and always appreciated. :D 2 and 3 darkening allele palominos are actually ones I have been eyeballing because I think they are not spot on just yet.

Thanks for the super duper break down!
It’s interesting how the hue is exactly the same, I think once you go over the 2-4 darkening allele horses again it will be better. I just prefer a richer darker shade for chocolate palominos
Does s+ darken horses the same as sty?Post edited by Blaze5115 at 2022-04-08 08:19:53 -
gosh you have cool looking horses!!

S+ actually causes more lightning in some areas compared to sooty as it causes more intense dappling. It does not make the horse darker in other areas. S+ can look light than non-S+ horses.Need to contact me? Read this first.

@/ammit thank you for explaining
@fiddler thanks a ton! Chocolate palominos are definitely my favorite color in game. My super favorites are the really dark dappled ones (the first foal of mine ammit posted) I recently decided to add white 8 and S+ to the line

@StarsetRoyale I have to say that horse looks completely correct to me. I am not seeing anything all that yellow. Pearl and mushroom both shift a horse more diluted and yellow in tone. If you are breeding those genetics you are breeding for yellow.
Here is a real chestnut pearl. Add mushroom and dun to that and I think this foal looks completely correct.Post edited by Ammit at 2022-04-11 04:40:55Need to contact me? Read this first.

Holy mama :-O
To be fair, I didn't mean that she looks bad, it's just different from what we've been seeing up until now, so it was a noticeable change.
...I also hadn't seen one in real life until now, and if that's what she's modeled after, that's amazing $-) /genPlayer ID #250257, She/Her
