ways for no longer new players to earn $$
-
well, before you have 20,000 points, you can make money selling herd helpers with points.. but what about after that?
contests, check.. Can anyone suggest other forms of income to those of us in this awkward adolescent stage?.thanks -
It’s definitely a hard stage in the game, so patience is pretty key. I’d recommend prioritizing buying new barns whenever you do earn. I had a minimum number of hbs to hold onto for daily expenses and breeding and then put anything I earned over that into IVs. The more stalls you have, the faster your show herd will grow, the faster you’ll be making good money.
In terms of earning in the short term, buying horses with points is a good way to boost your daily payout. If you have a fancy horse, you could always try offering straws or breeding. If you have the funds, doing a money transaction for someone is a pretty good way of getting a couple million hbs fast. I know some people would auction horses at 10 for their lifetime payout if they weren’t showing well.
I also limited the amount of testing I was doing to keep costs down. Breeding is fun but it’s also a huge drain on your income when you don’t have the barn space to keep most of your foals and let them slowly start to earn points. Definitely have a project or two to keep things fun, but be economical.
I’d say once I started making 20,000, then 50,000 per day, the growth really took off and it wasn’t as difficult.ID #265959 | He/him | Breeding Black Satin, Liver, and Grullo Arcturus Horses | Licenses: Mushroom, DFP2, Onyx, Axiom Blue and Green -
Show ponies, lots and lots of show ponies. Save up hbs/IVs for a barn and then fill with show ponies. Then repeat the process.

I guess that's what I'm doing, Humboldt, thanks

That's how I get my income, Fiddler, what Humboldt recommends, and you know what I make in a day.

I think it is common for people not to want the answer to be "horde show horses" but that really is the answer. They print money.Need to contact me? Read this first.
I sometimes get busy and miss things. If your private message, question, etc. gets missed please ping me so I can follow up with you. I am also always happy to explain or clarify. (HAJ does not have a customer service email, please send me a forum message! )

it's hard to imagine because when you've only been here for a short time, the show horses don't appear to do much at all, and at least from my perspective, it's hard to know whether I've been buying three right ones or notPost edited by Fiddler at 2022-04-25 05:27:33

I breed my show horses, not buy. Any horse that does not pass SBA, has the wrong color, inconsistent, missed a gene etc gets snipped and thrown in a show barn.
I swear by Expro/Experf foundations - the 2nd gen foals they produce are a great money earner. They tend to level off in the 7W shows - steady earners, great points. If they jump up tp Level 8L (they are usually 11 or 12 years old at that point), they get auctioned for lifetime payout.Thanked by 1Nightphoenix -
You can get pointed horses from the foundation rescue, snip them, and when they turn 10 toss them back in the auction for the lifetime payout if they aren't showing well. I did this a lot and quite a few are still in my barns showing well, and the others gave me a nice cash infusion. I still grab them fairly often for embryo transfersStarstruck2 on Bluegrass and Forest

oh Starstruck, that actually makes sense to me. YAY.

@Humboldt, Do you really make a point of throwing inconsistent horses into show barns? Isn't that much more important for a show horse than a breeder?
-
Inconsistency doesn't affect their showing by much in the overall picture. Their placings may be 6th to 3rd to 4th to 8th but they still bring in points and add to overall payout, especially in World Levels.
I don't want to keep breeding inconsistent horses, so I kick them out of the breeding shed. But I have tons of inconsistent horses still making bank. -
Thanks for explaining, @Humboldt, I didn't realize consistency was heritable.
