Bootstrap mares for sale - breeding cap quality
  • Did you know that there is a breeding cap in the game? A cap that you cannot get past without boosting. To find that cap line I bred two double boosted horses together and their foals (with some exceptions) are right at the breeding cap.

    Anyway, I need to cut down on how many mares I have. These ladies tested as good as my cap mares (anything less than that gets snipped automatically), so they are right at the cap or within a couple percent of the cap. However they don't meet my PT requirements. Instead of snipping them I decided to offer them for sale. They will be perfect to test your lines and see where they fall, as well as be exelent dams.

    They will not pass BA or SBA.

  • No, all gone.

    By cap, what is the cap on, how many mares you can have or something else?

  • Thank you @ClynnRose

    @Fiddler I only put 6 up for sale. I placed them at a price I felt was reasonable.

    @OopsDotCom, I only put a few up.
    The way I think of it is there is a max level of C/Yellow papered horses, then they jump to B/Red. The same thing all the way up to Sar/Gold papers. But instead of there being a 5th paper level it just cuts off, and a horse can not be born with a higher breeding ability than that line.

  • I added 6 more mares.

  • And I still don't understand what the "cap" is on. number of foals born, pt? Number of horses that paper color, I can't think of anything else.

  • @OopsDotCom, I think I understand it to be the highest breeding ability in the game. In other words, the best producing a Star or Gold papered horse can be. There isn't another paper level beyond that, the line just hits a ceiling and you can't get a better generation after that. Sort of like there's a highest PT a horse can have in the game, and there's a limit to how short a pony can be, or how tall a horse can be, there's also a certain ceiling on the best breeding ability a horse can have. The only difference is the exact numerical score of breeding ability is hidden (we can't see an exact score for where a horse's breeding ability lands within their paper level) and all those other traits are quantified on the horse's page. So to check for the highest Star/Gold breeding ability, you have to comparison test against a horse that has been proven over time to be at the breeding ability cap. Then you know you shouldn't cull a horse because it compares only as good as that benchmark horse, because there isn't anything better that can exist in the game.

    (As a side note, I wonder if the cap on PT isn't what causes the cap on breeding ability, or if it's vice versa. Naturally, if PT can only get so high, then parents of those horses would be at the breeding ability cap if nothing better than that can be produced within the game's parameters.)

  • @CLynnRose that’s a really good explanation.

    I thought I remembered Ammit saying once there is no PT cap, only a breeding cap. However that was a long time ago, so I don't know if I’m remembering correctly. I’m trying to get a PT of 15 or higher right now.
