Question on showing
-
I was wondering if there comes a point where horses dont advance in levels.
I noticed that some of my aged horses arent advancing past grand prix/national level. Is this due to age? Or paper level/pt?
Do horses stop accumulating points? Is it age 10 when they start decreasing? Or later?
Any insight would be helpful -
I know they level off based mostly on their PT scores, and generally around the same age as the # of their PT.

They don't stop accumulating points if they are showing well, but my understanding is that the lifetime payout is based on current daily payout up to age 18. So a 17 year old horse will be lower than a 10 year old horse. The daily payout can continue increasing their entire lives if they level off in a level where they show well.
I've read several times that the PT basically is the age at which each horse levels off and stops training/progressing to higher levels, and as far as I have observed that seems pretty accurateStarstruck2 on Bluegrass and Forest

@starstruck, you can’t necessarily assume a 17 y/o will have a lower lifetime payout than a 10 y/o. If a 10 y/o has a significantly lower daily than a 17 y/o, it might be the other way around. For example, I have 10 y/o with a lower lifetime payout than some of my 17 y/is.

@Lonestarstables if there's a big point disparity that could happen of course, there are horses that have no points at all too, but in general among horses that have been shown consistently that won't be the caseStarstruck2 on Bluegrass and Forest
