Show ponies
-
Hi all!
I know this question has been asked over and over again. With that being said, I’m going to ask it, but in a way that may fulfill all my questions.
So -
When building your show herd..
1. How many show ponies/horses do you keep at one time?
2. How do you determine which speldings to keep and which to cull? (I keep all G2 speldings and foundies, any stallions that aren’t superior are gelded. I’m not at the point monetarily to comparison test all my mares.)
3. At what point do you stop buying/keeping them/what is your minimum HBs per day that you are happy with?
(I have roughly 200 show ponies, and make 10-11k HBs daily.)
4. How do you afford buying bigger barns to store all said show ponies? (I do put real money into the game, I just try to limit it. I have real ponies to feed, LOL.)
5. Do you have any show ponies/horses ISO a new barn? :)
6. Feel free to share any tips/tricks/knowledge I may have missed out on asking a question about. I’m all ears.
Thank you!

IN Order ;
Try to keep them all ; if not all then the ones with the highest PT Scores ; they will earn more in the long run
I keep all of my 2g neuters, and then my 6 7 8 g neuters ; I toss the 3 4 and sometimes 5g into the auction to recoup some HB's from testing.
My personal goal was 500k a day in daily bonus ( aprox 7k show ponies ) this is Entirely up to you ; thats one of the best parts of this game ; there is no incorrect answer to this question.
until 10k "stalls" I personally stashed every extra HB into IV's and saved for the barns ; also if you sell back the smaller ones you can get bigger barns a little cheaper
you can check Foundation Rescue ( Owner 13 in the search bar ) for age 9 horses ; keep them until age 10 and then auction them ; this will increase your HB daily bonus as well as give you a nice payday towards IVs for that next barn :)
-
ah, that's why I can't seem to find many 9 year old foundation rescue horses, people are grabbing them haha.
-
Thank you! I greatly appreciate the information. I will put it to good use and reanalyze my show herd to. My goal is to be able to have enough show pony income to fund most of my operation. :)

1. How many show ponies/horses do you keep at one time?
I keep all spelded babies. I personally try to keep a 5/1 ratio. Five show horses for every breeder. But prefer a ratio more like 9/1.
2. How do you determine which speldings to keep and which to cull? (I keep all G2 speldings and foundies, any stallions that aren’t superior are gelded. I’m not at the point monetarily to comparison test all my mares.)
I wait until my show horses are older then 10, and have leveled off. Aka 1yr older than PT score. Then I cull based off of points earned this game year. Everything that has earned less than 20 points after 4 shows that month gets tossed in auction for lifetime payout. If I need extra stalls or more $$ I cull anything under 25-30 points. (I don’t care if a horse has 2k+ points if they aren’t still winning they go.)
3. At what point do you stop buying/keeping them/what is your minimum HBs per day that you are happy with?
(I have roughly 200 show ponies, and make 10-11k HBs daily.)
I don’t have a limit beyond what I can mentally handle. 250k-300k is my sweet spot.
4. How do you afford buying bigger barns to store all said show ponies? (I do put real money into the game, I just try to limit it. I have real ponies to feed, LOL.)
I keep all spelded horses. If I’m running low on room I will keep a speld over a breeder every time. I also tend to throw all extra hbs into ivs every chance I get. Also I only buy 1k barns for show horses, that way I can go a couple months between needing a new barn.
5. Do you have any show ponies/horses ISO a new barn?
No I keep them all. And try to plan ahead so I have enough room.
6. Feel free to share any tips/tricks/knowledge I may have missed out on asking a question about. I’m all ears.
Plan ahead. Figure out when you are going to need a show barn and make a point to have that many Ivs saved. Schedule GMT projects around when need new barns. Make a hard line on how many breeding horses you want to keep and cull hard to stay within that limit.Post edited by Silverstar at 2022-05-03 16:54:55 -
My answers:
1. How many show ponies/horses do you keep at one time?
I keep all speldings until they are at least 10, then evaluate their show record. Right now my show barn has around 600 horses in it.
2. How do you determine which speldings to keep and which to cull?
I comp test and speld anything that's not superior. At 10 years old(or once they've leveled off, if they have a higher PT score), any that are earning fewer than 20 show points by the middle of the month are auctioned off.
3. At what point do you stop buying/keeping them/what is your minimum HBs per day that you are happy with?
My goal at this point is to get my daily showing bonus up to 500,000. My current bonus is 26,473. I have two barns for my speldings: "Show Barn" and "Future Auction". Future Auction is for pointed creates with a PT score below 10. If, by the time they reach 10 years of age, they have become good show ponies, I move them to my Show Barn to live and show until they age out. The exception to this rule is the list of exceptionally high pointed horses, especially the ones I purchased that could age out at each new rollover. I'm just letting them retire in my barn. They provide a nice boost to the daily payout while my fairly new breeding/showing operation(I started at the end of Dec. 2021) gets up off the ground. The horses I've bred aren't old enough to have much of a daily payout.
4. How do you afford buying bigger barns to store all said show ponies?
My first barn purchases were with real money, but I just recently bought my first 1000 stall barn, and I was able to do it with IVs. That was possible for two reasons: (1)I saved up and (2) I started a second account for making and selling pointed creates, then transferred HBs over to my main account. This also gives me access to new pointed creates. I also made more barn space by putting the majority of my broodmares into pastures so they always have the pasture bonus and they don't fill up my stalls.
5. Do you have any show ponies/horses ISO a new barn?
Not on this account, but you're always welcome to look at the pointeds I have up for sale on my secondary account: @MackZ2Post edited by MackZ at 2022-05-03 12:31:43 -
When building your show herd..
1. How many show ponies/horses do you keep at one time? I'm up to around 1800 I believe but most are young so they aren't making a huge amount yet, I'm at 35k daily bonus
2. How do you determine which speldings to keep and which to cull? For a while I was keeping all over a certain PT score each month but starting last season I kept all I could fit (600 ish lol)
3. At what point do you stop buying/keeping them/what is your minimum HBs per day that you are happy with? I haven't reached my goal, my first is 100k but eventually I would like to go higher
4. How do you afford buying bigger barns to store all said show ponies? I sometimes make extra HBs by buying upgrades (real cash) for HBs. I also make $$ by culling my 10+ show horses who aren't performing well and auctioning for lifetime payout, then put the money into barns. When I first started saving show horses I would buy a 15 stall barn if that was all I could afford
5. Do you have any show ponies/horses ISO a new barn? Not currently
6. Feel free to share any tips/tricks/knowledge I may have missed out on asking a question about. I’m all ears.
Buy highpoint spelded foals cheap at the auction and put them in your show barns and raid the foundation rescue for older pointed horsesStarstruck2 on Bluegrass and Forest

1. How many show ponies/horses do you keep at one time?
A lot lol. I habe many barns fillled with show horses.
2. How do you determine which speldings to keep and which to cull? Any foal that does not pass my breeding requirements - superior, consistent, correct genes - gets gelded/spayed and sent to a show barn. I cull my show horses at 10 years old to get lifetime payout. Anything showing in level 8L goes, also anything under 7N. 95% of my show horses at 10 years old are at level 7W or higher so that has helped guiding auctioning for payout.
3. At what point do you stop buying/keeping them/what is your minimum HBs per day that you are happy with? I don't buy show horses really, I breed too many foals. They all make successful show horses. My daily payout is 560k right now, it hits close to 600k and then I cull at the end of the year.
4. How do you afford buying bigger barns to store all said show ponies? I save some RL money to buy barns if needed to keep growing. I don't want to get any bigger so now I'm trying to figure out how to downsize lol.
5. Do you have any show ponies/horses ISO a new barn? I'm greedy, I auction them for payout.
6. Feel free to share any tips/tricks/knowledge I may have missed out on asking a question about. Keep a variety of PT levels over 10, watch watch levels give you better points for class placements. Auction horses over 10 years old if they aren't placing well in classes. -
Thank you, everyone!! All of this information is fantastic! It gives me lots of options and things to think about. I appreciate everything every single one of you has shared with me. I wish you all nothing but the best :)
