Kentucky derby!
  • Which horses are you guys rooting for? Which horses are you not rooting for? I’m really bored and would love to hear opinions!
  • I decided on Epicenter because he is the oldest of the group! Lol

  • I was routing for Un Ojo.. but he was scratched due to injury so I have to pick someone else
  • The one with four legs lol

  • I like Crown Pride! They've been warming him up on the track with 20 meter circles- he moves nicely and would make a good hunter!
  • My favorites are Pioneer of Medina and Epicenter

I really liked crown pride but I don’t know enough about him or his trainer
  • Charge It or White Abarrio. The greys. :))
    Seahorse Farms #270748
    Spotted Warmbloods

  • Westworld: I haven't been checking out the field for the Kentucky Derby, but I'm quite sure that all the horses entered must be exactly 3 years old, that is, they turned 3 on January 1 this year. The same age requirement holds for the Preakness and the Belmont.

Epicenter may have been foaled earlier in the year than his competition, but that would give him only a few months advantage at the most.

  • My choice for winner is Cyberknife and second is Taiba.
  • @Sandycreekacres true! But when I was checking them out, most were actually born march april may 2019, a couple in February then Epicenter January 29 ish. So he has that many more months/weeks of maturity, and if Malcolm Gladwell taught me anything, that much more “experience“ lol. Just a silly thing I’m going off of. Nothing serious.

  • Well, I missed the KD... didn't even get a chance to pick a horse but Rich Strike definitely stood out to me when looking at the field last night (since Un Ojo was taken out of the field) but didn't get to really look too far into him..

Watching the recap, his jockey is smart! Straight from the start, while everyone else was trying to get out front, Sonny put him right along the rail and conserved so much energy and then to watch him maneuver Rich Strike at the home stretch after being squeezed out twice, this pair is something spectacular to watch! Chances of him pulling another win like this may be low in the Preakness but I am still excited to see what they do!

  • Rich Strike is a grandson of Curlin on the sire side (sire is Keen Ice) and on his dam side Awesome Again is his damsire. Due to the Curlin influence, he's bred to go some distance.
  • And Keen Ice is a pretty good horse himself! He gave American Pharoah some serious competition in several races!
