GE Help: Is it rude to reach out to people about straws/eggs?

Hi guys. My giftee is looking for very specific gene/size combinations that I don't breed for and I can't find any horses for sale with these genes. Is it seen as rude on HAJ to reach out to people and ask if they are willing to sell eggs/straws if they haven't listed the horses on the forums? Not at all! Most folks are very willing to part with them, in my experience on Forest. Lots of folks will make "open barn" listings as well.Thanked by 1Mensie

I haven’t listed any of my straws or eggs in months. But it’s more of a time thing not a unwillingness to share them. I almost never offer breeding, straws, or sales on my big Forest account, but it's just because I don't have time deal with it all! I will almost always have something available if someone asks.

I personally (and I bet most people) find it flattering when someone asks for eggs or straws, especially for gift exchange. A few things to note
1) Be prepared for "no" - some people keep in-house only lines
2) A player is less likely to want to flush eggs from a mare that is in a pasture vs in their barns.
3) Do not just message a player and say "hey do you have any third generation fantasy draft horses/eggs/straws" - search for the specific one or type you want. I personally get a little cranky when I offer eggs, straws, and lined stock for free/cheap and then have people expect me to do their searching for them.
As a side note for anyone, my barns are always open for straw and egg requests (special sales in June and December) and am willing to part with certain bootstrap and lined stock (but not all of them) for gifts."Coming back to where you started is not the same as never leaving." - PTerry Pratchett

I don't think it's rude! The worst that can happen is they aren't interested in sharing/selling in which case move on :) I'm happy to share if anyone sees anything in my barn on any server that you need straws from. I'm less inclined to share eggs if it's a foundation mare though since those are so limited.Thanked by 1Mensie
