which is your favourite colour and breed, in or out of the game
  • Personally mine is a cutting x sprint quarter horse, and my favourite colour would be dark bay or seal bay.
  • My dream horse is a mix of 6: Quarter, Morgan, Arabian, TB, Kiger Mustang, and Akhal-Teke. A Golden Palomino stallion.
As far as breeds you can actually find as a single horse, I love Drum Horses (especially silvery grey dappled tobianos and toveros) and Dun Kiger Mustangs.
Might be addicted to pixel ponies...

  • Heavy: Noriker Medium: Missouri Fox Trotter Light: Kirghiz Horse

I like most colours, not overly keen on grey or Appaloosa.
  • My absolute favorite breed will always be the Appaloosa :x Although, I may be a little biased :)) But Appys have been my favorite since I was a young girl and now I own the best Appy mare I could ask for

  • My favorite breed is Arabian! My dream horse is a quarter/Arabian cross. I love liver in real life and in the game pinto and sooty Palomino are close 2nds for me!
  • My favorite breeds in RL are Andalusians and the heavy guys, especially Percherons and Belgian drafts. My dream horse would be a draft mule. I love "dirty" colors the most such as dun, buckskins, and blue roans. I've always wanted a solid black horse as well. Basically, the opposite of everything I like/breed for in HAJ, lol.

  • Morgan horses, favorite color always a sooty palomino.

  • Good question. In real life, my favorite is a palomino colored, Quarter Horse. :D

In game, I breed a variety of chocolate palominos/palominos, livers, pearls, and some black/brown

  • For many years, I’ve been prejudiced against anything with spots. It’s not that spots equal crazy; it’s that people are far more willing to give second and third chances to horses that are fancy colors…and to throw them in the pasture to breed if they are too nuts to ride (definitely seen that a time or two). But now, purely by happenstance, I’ve ended up with a lovely paint and an appy. And the absolute most difficult horse I’ve ever owned was a plain chestnut with a head that looked like a shoebox with two ping pong balls glued to it. So I’m basically clinging to a hypothesis that my own experience has disproved.
  • I think I'm crazy about every breed. I like to learn about each one. And a horse of every color is great! Although growing up I've had dapple greys, white, and as a teen I had mostly chestnuts. Chestnuts and paints have my heart for sure! But I LOVE anything with the sooty spot appearance or the deep line pigments. Loud paints . My current mare is a dark bay tovero but has pangerea "lighting around her nose and under belly" and you can see the spots in the bay like the horses I breed here. I have found that it's inherited as pictures of her siblings by the sire and even grand sire has the spotting appearance like the in-game gene sooty plus.
But I love anything that stands out. Like my mare that appears to have a tri colored mane and tail , I like different and a good hearted horse.
  • I've never owned a horse, so I can't speak from experience. If I wanted one, I'd search for something calm, perhaps Quarter Horse or Frisian.
In the game, I love black tobiano that's about 50/50 of each color and looks like a Holstein cow. The Gypsy Vanners look pretty neat.
I like deep, saturated colors and, if breeding for roan or nexus, as few white spots as possible.

  • @Brandybrookes - is your mare APHA? My pedigree knowledge is pretty limited, unless it’s TBs or, these days, POAs, but I’m always interested.
  • Yes my chestnut mare is and so is my dark bay mare . Destiny comes from mostly old school halter horses / some racing . She has three bars , and sunny dee , ler classy opal rocket .
Now my bay mare is out of by appointment only whose sire was invitation only . These two tend to produce the dapply spots . Her dams side is one Kool baby that's out of one Kool krysnum if I spelled that right? Lol

Now my AQHA gelding was out of invy star who was also out of invitation only and invy star also had the dappling appearance as a dark bay . But my gelding ended up being a chestnut and didn't have the spots. These horses are very well known and there's pictures online . I'll try getting some links up.

  • Sad part is you can end up with some crazies that come from reputable lines. Buying foals is always hit or miss. Like my gelding. He's super smart and he's what I call a dangerous smart. If you put him in his place and make him think he's a great horse , but if your new or not super advanced he will find what it is to rock your confidence and not in a very nice way. Not kid safe , not safe for many. Has explosive moments when he really tries to get out of something and if you don't catch on quick enough.

Now my mare has closely similar lines and she's an absolute sweat heart to work with and can be handled by novices as a 2 year old. Although when lunging she does start out with some explosives but the gas tank is very small and it's never directed in a mean way. Just starts with a bunch of energy.

My older chestnut mare on the other hand is the diamond in the rough. The child's unicorn. Not a single mean thing about her and she takes care of the inexperienced and children. She's the type that can sit for a year and you could take out to ride that day. And to think she's the one with mostly old school halter horses crossed with racing lines. She over all has always had a good head on her shoulders with a big heart.
  • I honestly like most horse breeds, but I absolutely love Saddlebreds and Knabstruppers!
I’m autistic and I struggle with any kind of communication, so I apologize in advance if I say anything rude or offensive because there’s a 99% chance that I have no clue I did it. I appreciate your patience with me!
  • @Brandybrookes - sometimes I wonder if some of the same qualities lead to completely different results depending on the “mix” of personality traits. Intelligence and low fear can make either a wonderful beginners horse or a lot of trouble, depending on other factors. I have an elderly half Arab whom I inherited from a dear friend. He is highly intelligent, bold, and very much an “alpha” in the pasture. He was the horse she could trust with her beginner students and the most timid of riders, and she always said he was the same horse in his twenties that he’d been at 3. He had a maternal half brother, however, who was one of the most dangerous horses she’d known. And, let me tell you, considering how her two favorite horses started out, that is saying something. It was the low fear and the intelligence, but without his kind nature. Sort of the dairy cattle thing - the cows are much easier to handle than beef cows, while the bulls are unbelievably dangerous. And, I suppose, thinking of my friend makes me remember how much handling matters, too. She had a gelding (again, highly intelligent) who probably would have killed someone in the wrong hands, but ended up being another beginner lesson horse in his twenties, solely because she understood him and he wanted to please her.
  • My favorite favorite kind of horse is a handy one!
I currently have a Mustang, Missouri Foxtrotter, and a Quarter horse. I love them all for different reasons

My dream horse would be a draft x quarter cross. Think American bucking stock. I love the largeness of them, and they can practically pull a house down

As for color wise I like simplicity. I love my dark bay/black who turns almost buckskin in the summer. I’m a sucker for a pretty bay or sorrel. bonus points for chrome and minimal pinto markings

  • I honestly like most horses, although if I’m going for favourites I’ve always been rather partial to Andalusians, Lipizzaners and Friesians. Especially the darker grays or blacks. If I were ever to get a horse, I’d probably look more for temperament than anything else.

In game, I really like the look of chocolate palomino and the really dark liver bays.

  • Heifer@ your right on the "mix" my geldings two full siblings ended up just as crazy as he did. They stopped pairing the two horses even though being super great show horses and being gentle themselves , just something with the two created horses hard to work with. My gelding is very intelligent but he also had high fear and not very forgiving if someone made a mistake. He was at the bottom of the pecking order

My mare that's out of a close line to my gelding is also smart . quick learner and has mild fear and is forgiving . Very easy to work with she could be started out by a novice. She is at the bottom of the pecking order.

My old school mare I would say isn't as smart as the other two but she wasn't dumb. It took a couple trys before she mastered things but I also did everything myself with her as a young girl trying to watch videos and read books on how to do the basics training . She is my go to no fear horse. I could take her out on trails and sit quiet while other horses spook over a deer passing by. I could take her all over. Although as a 2yo she had a fear of umbrellas. But that's long gone. She was the quickest to get good with ground manners and good with bathes and fly spray and children.
She was different. She would boss the other horses but she was the type that didn't want much to do with them either. If a human was around she was whinnying at them as close to the gate as possible waiting to be worked with. She was an absolute lover .
Her half siblings on her mom's side were all just like her and so was her mom. Always very kind and gentle natured that stood out from the others.

The Arabian I had as a young girl was also very sweet and kind but she was the bottom of the pecking order and reactive to what other horses did. She reminds me of your average lesson horse today. Teaches kids how to deal and handle with a fidgety horse when tacking or bathing or out riding but also didn't ruin your confidence or do anything to harm you. She taught me alot of things and boosted my confidence. Her foal she had was very similar but would easily get distracted lol but we loved her.
  • Iv'e been looking at Invitation Only, and iv'e also seen One Kool Krymsum's page aswell.
  • I have always loved horses, since before I knew there were breeds. In the 1970s I had the pleasure to own Arabians, but moved to the big city and had to leave them.
I have since discovered Friesians and oh my goodness, they are glorious. And I am not super thrilled with what has happened to Arabians.
Color? Honestly, my favorite color is bay! (but not here in the game)

  • My favorite breed is the Tennessee Walking Horse. Second and third would be Friesians and Percherons. My favorite color is solid black, not a speck of white.
  • Appaloosa's, I grew up with them and the Colorado Rangerbreds, very close to the Appie, but more of what I grew up with in Appaloosa than what the Appie is now. My Mom and sister still run the family farm and have both, I myself no longer am a major part just help out when needed. I do still have Colorado Rangerbreds, but no longer breeding, just left with my foundation stock. Colorado Rangerbred are a line breed, when founded there was only 50 spots for registry and they had to trace back to the two original stallions. Those that could not be registered because there was no spots left became the American Appaloosa Horse Club. They opened the registry in 1964. I do have the stallion book that traces my mares and stud (now gelding) right back to both foundation stallions.

  • I have a huge soft spot for Arabians. I've owned them for over fifteen years, and I work at an Arabian show barn. I just think they're incredible horses, especially sport horse and performance lines.
Otherwise, thoroughbreds and Akhal Tekes are a couple of my other favorites. I tend to get along well with hot blooded horses.

As far as color goes, I always tend to fall in love with chestnuts, but I really love a glossy dark bay or black. I've also fallen in love with buckskins lately, in game as well.

  • I loved and will always love a splash white bay/buckskin. Gotta have 4 white ankles and either a bald face or a large white stripe. Makes my heart race! In fact both my cat and dog have little white boots so I can confirm it transcends into other species :))
  • I will always love paints, thoroughbreds and quarter horses. My all time favorite color would have to be chestnut, either completely solid or with a bald face like splash or frame. I breed paint horses, and I'm lucky to have a stallion who's hom W20, he has put socks and some type of blaze on almost all his foals. His most recent filly is the only solid I've gotten from him so far with only two hind socks. He's only het dom extension, but sadly I've yet to get a solid blazed chestnut from him, and what's even more sad is I have yet to have a foal actually expressing frame. Not even a belly spot, he himself is loudly marked by frame though. I've gotten a dominant white filly from him who is chestnut based, but her whole body is a white spot. Her chestnut ears turned white by a week old. And of course blue eyes are a plus. Any red or black animal I'll fall in love on the spot.

  • I own 2 Straight Egyptian, Asil, Al Khamsa Arabians in RL, a wild bay and a dapple grey! They’re my favorite and all I’ll ever own! They’re the “purest” of them all with every ancestor verified to be of Bedouin descent. :)
