Gray Reduction

Gray reduction is a very straightforward recessive gene. When a gray horse has two copies of this it causes them to gray out at a fraction of the normal gray rate, while keeping the hyperpigmentation look. If you are into hyperpigmentation or the young gray look this will keep your herd looking that way for almost their entire life.

This is based on real-life horses who have abnormally slow graying. It is not a fantasy gene.

GR is recessive, available through the end of the month, and will be available in the normal RGS rotation. It is 7.50 per copy and does not require a license.

Platinum

Platinum is our brand new fantasy gene for this event. The platinum gene completely removes yellow tones from a horse's coat and heavily reduces red tones while leaving dark tones intact. This results in shimmery desaturated horses with platinum tones instead of the normal golden or copper tones. Platinum is recessive and requires two copies to show. It will add Platinum to the color name of any horse with two copies.

Do not combine with mushroom or chinchilla genes. Why? Mushroom reduces all red pigment. Platinum is more aggressive and while you might get some minimal effect with the darkest with very dark horses I suggest you try and breed that in rather than spending money on it. Chinchilla removes all red pigment and will erase any effect from the platinum gene.

Platinum is a recessive, fantasy gene that requires a license to own. It costs 10.00 per copy, is available through the end of the month, and will be available in the normal RGS rotation.

Because of the very base color-dependent nature of platinum, I have prepped a bunch of examples. I think chocolate, P+, dun, champagne, and cream/pearl are my favorites when combined with platinum. Examples are uploaded here in our FB group.

I'm so excited to get a platinum brown line going! I love that look and it was always sorta hit and miss before, so this is really exciting.

PS: I got a kick the other day out of seeing that you bought the horse for the gray reduction example from my secondary account. :)

I don't care for gray, but for some I reason I think platinum looks pretty cool. If anyone has homozygous platinum foals that get snipped, I would like one for my show herd.

Hey @ammit just wondering, with enough rolls, are dapples possible on 2 of my boys? I understand one of my "ghost ponies" is way too light for dapples, but there other two are very light cream colors. If not, no biggie, I just love dapples hehe

Look for examples with out platinum. If they can have dapples with out it they can have dapples with.

@ammit how do the platinum genes interact with darkening ice genes, such as those on the horses below? I haven't seen anyone try yet. Would they cancel out like chinchilla and mushroom?

@Ammit can we get a platinum breeders group pleeeaaase? 8-> I think right now the only one they can be added into currently (with no other genes) is the fantasy open group. Not sure about other people but I love the groups and it's a great way to get some GMT tokens from time to time.

I don't make chat rooms for genes. That is up to you guys.

If you are asking about a breeder's cub then hard no Chocolate gene only just got its first club. I don't make clubs until there is enough horses to fill it and platinum is nowhere near there. Will be at least a year before they get their own fantasy club. And that depends on how quickly it is adopted. :)
