    I remember it was mentioned a long time ago that anything from a herd helper that isn’t homozygous, will have the gene on the dams side. So the W1 you selected was at minimum het, but because the sabino goes on the same spot, it took it instead. If you were to find a homozygous W1 herd helper, then use the sabino event, you will see both. Hope that explains it.

    Yup, het over het makes het not a horse homozygous for Kit mutations.
