Damages
-
I logged in today and it said my horse got damages. What exactly does it mean? I'm just curious. I didn't log on yesterday, if that has anything to do with it.

Just as in real life, sometimes your pixel pony will damage your barn. Damages is what you pay to repair said damages. I had a very bad pony who caused 38 hbs worth of damages once.Post edited by Visions at 2014-10-04 13:22:14

I remember reading that once upon a time, very early in the life of the game, when there was very little testing available, damages were one way to sort out horses that were not good breeding stock. However, as the number of tests increased, and the poor breeders were weeded out that way, the damage costs dropped pretty naturally, and they became just a lifelike part of barn ownership. Occasionally you can still get a horse that will rack up a considerable total of damages over a lifetime, but very high individual instances of damage are much rarer.
I created a mare in mid-September that got spayed somewhere in the testing process. Before the beginning of October she had accounted for over 49hb in damages in two episodes. This is a remarkable happening in my barn. I decided to send her to the auction. -
Thank you for the complete explanation! My mare that ranked up the large damages was spayed and in the auction when it happened. I knew she wasa bad Apple. :)

Just like Sandy said. I remember when Ammit put in the damages, about half my stock set me to 0. Thousands in damages a day before I culled. I think some horses racked up 2k+ a day. I think we only had Charlie for the gelding test, and stallion papering to tell if a horse was bad or not

Thanks everyone for replying! She only did 2hbs worth of damage, which is a small amount compared to what you guys have gotten. :)

That's not bad at all. Many times you will see 0, 1 or 2 hb damage--truly minor stuff. Slightly higher charges do show up occasionally, but I have rarely seen any over 10 hb for a single event. When I do, I always go and check the record of the horse involved to see if it's getting into bad habits. :D
