It Is Finally Time (ISO bootstrap horses)
-
I've finally accepted I need a bootstrap herd and I'm not capable of producing my foundation sire myself because my standards are too low for my breeding stock :P (working on that part)
I know there are guides to how to do it, but I don't have them bookmarked, so I'm looking for whatever you need as a foundation, and maybe also some hints. Do I need a separate bootstrap pasture? I probably need a barn for it, for organization purposes? No BA testing, but paper test everything? Etc
I will pay you for horses and advice, please help me!

you need a High PT Stalliion and several Foundation mares, I use my primary pasture as my bootstrap pasture, so yes a dedicated pasture is best. Breed the pasture; pull all the fillies and Dont test them ( other than paper / PT if you want to ) Geld the boys. do PT test the boys ; they usually PT test decent ( this is your starter show herd ) let the girls grow up ; when of age breed them back to dad, I often do BA test here or the next round to see if the fillies pass and if any of the boys pass they will be replacement for the OG Stud when he ages out. and Just rinse and repeat every month :) I can probably help you with a decent BS Stud to start off with if you need help finding one :)Post edited by annismyrph at 2022-06-20 11:05:25

Do you find that a 60 horse pasture is sufficient for your herd? I'm using my primary pasture for my color line currently, and would have to wait to get another pasture purchased (depending on my finances this month).
But that all is super helpful!
If you have a spare stallion that would work, I'd be happy to buy him from you! I'm seeing some up for public sale that are yearlings but have a 13.40 PT. Is that high enough? They're not papered yet, but their pedigrees are all Gold and Star paperedFormerly OscarWildin
