I have this horse

And I love his gray color, am hoping to try and breed for it. When I searched for other horses with (Black: e/E Bay: a/a Cream: -/Cr Dun: D/- Champagne: -/Ch Flaxen: -/f ), they seem to be very warm tones vs that very gray color I like.
Basically they look like this

Anyone know why this is? Is it random generation stuff? Is it related to kit gene stuff? Is it because of the Ice gene?

I believe it is just the champagne (Ch) and the cream/dun working together. Ice also lightens or mutes a color I believe (someone correct me if I'm wrong)

I wouldn't plan on breeding for it, I think Ammit mentioned that it was on the list of things to fix? I will try to find the post/wording she used later on for clarification. :) Another member mentioned liking the color and Ammit hoped no one already had sights to breed for it. It is a pretty color though.

Ohh that is good to know. It does seem like Ice makes colors less saturated, which makes sense.

I appreciate the warning on not trying to breed for it, although that's somewhat sad to hear, since it is so pretty.

Doesn't the new gene Platinum look similar to that gray color with certain coats? I think I have seen a few that are similar in color and it may be bred as a color line if it's close enough...unless it's something that isnt expressing correctly either. X_X

SVLD Bandit Queen 1g brin

This definitely reminds me of my Shaved Ice boy, although a bit darker. Definitely is lacking the warm pigment colors.

I think shade wise, this boy might be the closest with platinum, and no ice. So it might still be able to be bred for.
