Question about good showing
-
I have a 2g broodmare that's relatively consistent and a great show horse. She is 12 years old and already has over 1,200 points.
I want to know if this specific type of showing ability passes to offspring. I've never kept anything from her, so I'm also wondering if it's wise to keep a few show horses from her.

Shout out to her breeder smswierePost edited by BarnRaised at 2022-08-07 16:23:33 -
I have noticed with some of my stallions that were really good show horses ended up passing it on to there offspring. One was a 2g stallion and all the 3g foals I kept had outstanding points. I am guessing it's one of those hidden things when breeding and just hope to pair them with the right match to get a good show horse. for its pt and consistency it also factors how long they train and consistently place in the show ring. I would test your horse out with a couple foals as show and when they peak check out how they stand up compared to there parents.

Thank you for your advice. I'm going to go ahead and keep this year's and next year's then hope for the best!

The showing ability of a foal is determined by the breeding ability of its parents, not by their showing ability.Thanked by 1Fiddler
