250822 Capuccino
I removed his Dun gene and to my surprise, his color was like coffee with a lot of milk.I changed him back to his original color which is what you see here.
what besides the D is lightening his coat?
thanks!Post edited by Fiddler at 2022-08-26 07:24:03 -
Mushroom I believe.Thanked by 1Fiddler

most likely its the Silver, Mushroom only really lightens the flank, muzzle and "armpit" mostly but I dont think it lightens the entire coat
-
oh interesting! how goofy. I also have some very dark silvers.

Silver has zero impact on ee horses. Mushroom is 100% the culprit here. Annis has confused mushroom and pangare. :)Need to contact me? Read this first.

thanks!
I thought mushroom made them dark.. Who knew -
Mushroom
Mushroom is a real homozygous recessive gene, found in the Shetland breed. The Mushroom gene appears to act only on red pigment and desaturates the color leaving a sepia hue to the coat. Manes and tails range from slightly diluted to near pure white. The color is not quite cream, not quite dun, not quite silver.
Here is the gene info. :)Need to contact me? Read this first.
