First time gift exchange worries
-
This is my first time participating in gift exchange, figured now is a good time since I've been saving up hbs and improving my show barn to hopefully spoil someone.
I'm not sure what to expect with the whole thing as far as shopping, do I try to find the horse that matches as close as possible?
What if I find something close, but not close enough
Would that be unacceptable?
If I can gmt a horse a bit, but not a lot and it doesn't meet all the criteria is that ok too?
I'm a little worried my gift won't be worthy I guess.
I can't pay real money. My mom and I own 14 horses I'm 19, and will be paying to get my yearlings shipped off for training. It will be a never ending thing, because I'll have yearlings every year that need trained and sold. I'm trying to get started in life on my own all while making sure my horses have a quality life, so anything I make is already claimed by my equines or my future before I can hold it in my hands lol.
The reason I mention this is because if I were to eventually level up, is it absolutely necessary for me to use real money?
Would I be able to provide a proper gift if I weren't able to?
Pardon all the questions, but if desired can I refrain from leveling up and choose my level of participation every time, or is it automatic with no choice?
I understand leveling up will take time, but I want to be prepared in my knowledge of what will happen.Post edited by BarnRaised at 2022-11-16 10:23:40Thanked by 1Xzeina -

the stress of the gift exchange
if when you receive you giftee (the person you will be buying for)
read their lists of items go check out their barns get a feel for what they are breeding for and Horses that they have.
many of the old-time players really help with straws horses etc for the sole purpose of this event.
level one its never expected to use real money for items.
some people go out of there way and do so but its not expected
and when you complete level one you don't have to move up to level 2
the option to stay level one is always your choice on the form.
so don't fret it's a super enjoyable event.
have fun it's what this game is all about and the super friendly people that are so very helpful that love this game

What level are you signing up for? Most of us will help out as much as possible!
-
I'm level 1, my worries may be a little advanced for what I'm eligible for, but I'm wanting to make sure my giftee has a good experience. You never know who's new to it too, so I don't want anyone not trying secret santa again.
-
Totally get it. You’ll find many players are super generous and more than happy to help out all gifters:)
-
@BarnRaised, I'm right there with you. It'll be my first time too and I'm so worried that my gift(s) is not going to be good enough.
-
It will be my first time and will be starting out at level 1 as well, so have all the same worries. I'm not sure what to expect either as I have a some medical stuff happening next month but really hoping I will have the time to participate this year. It has been something I've wanted to do and have my fingers crossed my giftee likes some of the things I do lolPost edited by HorseAngel at 2022-11-16 18:59:04Celestial Angels, The Balinor Breed! As long as you make the effort/get into the spirit you will be FINE! Keep in mind how wonderful this community is, and how people want to help however they can.

Don’t worry it’s fun and easy. Here’s what I have done in the past to get around my inability to spend RL money in the game.
I have put an iso in the form asking if anyone was willing to spend RL money in exchange for hbs, for my giffty and if so to message me. I put the gene cost in the post, plus the exchange rate I was offering. I often offer a much higher exchange rate than the current rate, usually double to triple. Since it’s not a guarantee of finding someone willing to do that for you; I always try to make the post as soon as possible, and why I offer so much above the current rate, to up my chances of finding somebody. I usually find someone. But I always have several backup plans in case it doesn’t work out. -
Thanks everyone, this made me feel a lot better
