My past year with non pixel ponies
-
So last year December I bought an appy from auction. He did not work out, after trying to work with him for a few months and sending him to training. I ended up selling him in July. He and I never clicked and he gave me a good amount of self doubt. About a month after he sold I picked up a paint yearling. And wow, she helped bring some confidence back. I took her and my pony to a local horse show 3 weeks after getting her and she was great. Super baby, but I had 0 expectations for her. I just wanted her to see some life. My pony ended up placing in 2 of her showmanship classes and I had no expectations for her too so I was thrilled for their first show. And this weekend I took the pony and the yearling to a local mountain trail course and they were both amazing. Water crossing, suspension bridge, raised bridgse, log crossings, ditches, and around a waterfall. I couldn't be happier with them and it's amazing the difference in how I feel towards horses this year vs last year. Yes some other external things are different but I'm so happy that I moved on and found another horse to do things with.
My pony I have had since she was 10 months old and she will be 4 in March/April. And I have had the yearling for 4.5 months now.
I've just been over the moon happy with my two girls the past few days and wanted to share my excitement :) right now seasonal depression can't get me ;) and I think I have forecasted clouds/rain until I leave. it also helps I know I'm going to get true sunshine at my parents house next week lol.
Thanks for reading -

Its so wonderful when you find a horse that clicks with you ! the past 6 years i dealt with a gelding who was suppose to be my show horse. Super nice lines and had the moves for an all rounder. The hickup was i sent him to a new trainer since mine had a full barn and that was the biggest mistake ive made. The trainer didnt want me there for training sessions and then an accident happend leaving him on stall rest for 3 months. After that he was a different horse. He flipped when he seen trailers, one day he would ride well and another day he would try to dart , buck , rear and if you fell off you had to get up quick because he would litterally try trampling you. He was sold as a pasture pet.
A couple years ago i purchased a super cute paint filly with awsome westernpleasure lines and was moving great on a lunge. I kept her with my trainer that i trust and love. At 3 years of age i almost placed her up for sale because she was only 14.1 hands and by apha rule book they have to be 14.2 and above " NYS hardly has any apha approved shows" and pinto she has to be 14 3 and taller and thats more of what is up here in nys. It was a hard decision for me but i kept her and decided to just show for fun in local shows. Fast forward to now and i have a mare thats excelling in western pleasure that has a super sweet and forgiving additude . Nothing phases her . Ive had so many people throw random offeres at me becasue they like her so much . And we have clicked. We are two peas in a pod and she has grown enough to show in the bigger shows . Shes my little diamond i found out in the rough. -
Aw I'm sorry about the gelding. But I'm so happy for you and your paint mare! It's a wonderful feeling when you and you horse click together <3
