12/11 -Tack generator updates
-
For the last several months, Haystack has spent hundreds of hours working on a back-end tack generator update for the site. This has been a massive undertaking that if it works right you won't even notice at all.
Once this goes live you still start seeing a new message when you refresh horse images "Adding backgrounds and items." This new system makes tack generation site-wide work the same as the advanced tack editor system. That means refreshes will no longer mess up your carefully arranged tack.
We are aware of the following bugs with the advanced tack editor.
** z-indexing (how images are layered on top of each other) does not always save correctly, particularly the horse layer.
** There is a known issue with tattoos and Chrome browsers.
** The advanced editor is not saving thumbnails just yet.
Now that this project is out the door we will be fixing these right away. They should be pretty quick to get patched, but I am letting you know about them here so you don't think they are bugs with the new system.
This is not currently running when horses auto age-up, but we expect that to be in place before the next rollover.
We do expect this system to have some bugs. If you see odd behavior please let us know about it so we can address it.
ETA: Looks like we have a bug where tack items that do not have metadata (because the horse was never opened/saved in the advanced tack editor) are causing the generation to crash and return no image.
The fix for this is to open the horse in the advanced editor and save it. OR just wait. We will have a fix out asap, probably in a few hours.Post edited by Ammit at 2022-12-11 10:05:47Need to contact me? Read this first.

Noticed this with a few of mine, I just refreshed the image, or waited, and it popped up fine. Didn't even realize that was a bug
-
The above issue is now fixed. We also found an issue where some tack with no color was turning transparent. This has also been fixed.Need to contact me? Read this first.

If I change the background, it puts the horse in the top right of the frame, and it gets that pixilated look of the advanced tack editor

I've noticed the shifting position every time I use the tack editor lately. If I just add items and refresh the horse's page, they stay in their original spot. But if I then open the tack editor, the horse and all tack has shifted up and to the left.
In addition, after using the tack editor to create a stall or something that requires moving items around, I save the image and everything looks fine. But if I go back into the tack editor to add another item, all items in my saved image are shifted.Post edited by MackZ at 2022-12-11 22:35:47 -
Thank you for the hard work guys!

We fixed a bug where scaling of horses based on size was not positing the horses correctly in the frame.
The other bugs we are aware of, in order of our priority to get them fixed are:
Tattoos do not show on the body
It is not hiding adult items on foals or foal items on adults.
We are still sometimes getting images that don't load the first time.
Scaling down in size is causing excessive pixelation.Post edited by Ammit at 2022-12-12 08:53:58Need to contact me? Read this first.

12/16 Update:
If you tried to update a horse's image in the past 24 hours or so it would have broken as part of the generator was down. We fixed that issue.
Next, we rolled out a fix for the random image crashes. If you have an image fail to generate AFTER I made this post please let us know.
Finally, the tattoo manager page was fully regenerating horses instead of just refreshing the images. We fixed that. (Note there is still an outstanding bug with tattoos we are working on. Today's fixes became the priority).

Thanks Ammit, they are much better now, just the excess pixelation on mine, probably because I have a lot of little ones!
-
Just wondering if there was estimate on when the excess pixelation might be addressed. I mean the horses image is fine until I add a background and then it goes horrible. I have to keep reminding myself not to add backgrounds or to change any mane/tails, I'm finding it quite frustrating to be honest

Kintara we have been dealing with other far more critical bugs and there have been multiple holidays. It is on the list, but since we don't know how hard it will be to fix we can't give an eta.Need to contact me? Read this first.

Kind of seems there isn't really any point to playing any more, I mean the whole point to the game is the visual images
-
Drafts and warmbloods seem to be fine, thus why I suppose it's not affecting that many people
-
@Kintara It's on the list to be fixed. I think that's not a bug that's worth throwing the whole game away over. In the meanwhile, maybe just skip using the advanced editor for a bit.
-
I'm not using the advanced editor, I can't even change a background
-
As soon as I gmt a horse it wrecks the image as well
-
You have been saying that since the blue backgrounds. If you want to leave you are welcome to. But "Kintara we have been dealing with other far more critical bugs and there have been multiple holidays." We work our asses off for everyone on this game, it does not revolve solely around you.Need to contact me? Read this first.

I would consider it a fairly big issue, probably the only reason more people haven't noticed is because drafts, warmbloods and riding horses seem unaffected
-
Actually I've never said I'm going to leave until now, not ever
-
It is on the list. Haystack can not get to it because the kid is home on holiday. We will fix it when we can. Like I said you can leave if you want or you can understand that we don't just wave magic wands to do this stuff. It takes huge amounts of effort. It will be fixed as soon as we can fix it. It is on the list because we noticed it and are getting to it as soon as we can. Threatening to quit because we can't get to this OVER CHRISTMAS is kind of absurd.

I actually hadn't considered leaving completely anyway, I just said what is the point, but yeh I guess I know when I'm not welcome. Point made
-
Thank for your last post, I was feeling a bit shocked that you just thought I should leave
-
I have no desire to see you leave but I also can't derail other critical issues on the game because you think this one is more vital. Members who had images not working at all, were a bigger priority than this. I also can't control the holidays which means we don't have childcare. All I am asking is a little more understanding that we are people doing the best we can and making posts like "what even is the point" is deeply flippant and unfair.Need to contact me?
