Maxing vs. Boosting
-
Is Maxing a horse cheaper and more feasible than Boosting one? If I'm correct in my figures, it's cheaper to Max. Plus doesn't Boosting also change the era and Maxing doesn't?
-
I think you are correct, maxing doesn't change the era. However, with the 5% boost you are assured of getting a 5% better horse, with Maxing you might not get anything that good, you'll just get the max the parents are capable of giving.
You can max a horse and it might still fail SBAPost edited by Fiddler at 2023-01-02 10:14:14 -
Maxing a horse is 5gmts (625k hbs) whereas boosting is 50-200ivs (625k-2.5mil hbs). Maxing does not guarantee a horse will pass testing or test superior. It just gives the foal the absolute maximum breeding ability that the parents can produce together. Boosting can take a foal OVER that ability. you can also do both to the same foal/horse in order to make it the maximum ability possible over what the parents can produce. But you ALWAYS want to max out first, then boost.Bluegrass Server: HayesStable - 221755

(boosting also does not guarantee a foal passes testing when it comes to bootstrapping/extremely uneven breeding)Bluegrass Server: HayesStable - 221755

Ya, they really do different things. For the best foal possible max than boost, but if you are already using a very good foal you may not get any benefit from maxing.Need to contact me? Read this first.

:-/ So Maxing a horse won't necessarily make them superior and help them pass SBA?
-
From my understanding, if you take a lined foal that did not pass SBA and max it out and it still doesn't pass SBA, then the two parents to that foal will never produce a passing foal.
Edit - here's the article
