Need help with a dilemma with older stock. (Answered)
  • So I have a big question. I have about 220 show horses that are over the age of 20 or more. Do I auction them off? Do I keep them until they age out of the game?
I am trying to come up with GMT to finish two of my gift ponies that I got at gift exchange. Anybody have any advice?

  • if they are 20 ; they probably have pretty good daily payout ; I d wait til the end of the month and toss them in auction then.

  • Personally, I’d keep them since many will likely survive and they’ll keep contributing to your daily income. If you auction them now, their lifetime daily payout will probably be low (I think it multiplies current daily payout by years left until 20) so you won’t get much in return.

I’d only auction them if you’re making space for younger horses with more points.

If you’re looking to make quick hbs for this game “year” you’d probably be better off trying to sell or auction younger horses with points as you might have other players willing to buy or bid. Same if you have any rank specials you’re not using. Similarly if you auction some pointed 10 year olds, you’ll get a much better payout from the auction than from 19 year olds.

That said, if you don’t need the GMTs this “year” your best bet is probably to keep growing your show herd.

  • I was just looking at that their lifetime is low while the daily is high. I may just wait till pay day and help a few players pick up pastures they may still be looking for.
  • Yeah if you are going to auction it's the 10s you want.

  • Unless you have something more valuable that you need stalls for, keep them. They will continue to accumulate points and daily payout until they age out, and the chance of them aging out is.. 20% every rollover if I remember right? I have old competition horses now in the 13 PT range that now give me a daily payout of almost 1000 hbs per day..
  • Thank you all so much. The information I needed.
  • @Tzano ; am looking for a 30 acre pasture for 4mil :) and am willing to wait :)

  • When I need quick money and cull for auction, I run a search with the following steps (works if your horses are shown twice weekly):
    1) owned horses older than 10
    2) sort by earnings this year
    3) go to last page

I then pick the leveled-off horses with the worst earnings, and auction them. Almost all of them will have a payout in excess of the 2,500 base auction price (so you get your 10yo+ premium) and they are unlikely to bring in significant earnings or points, so you're not leaving much money on the table by offloading them. Your 20 year old horses will have lifetime expected payouts based on the remaining ~two weeks of January 2023...so they might not auction for more than 2,500 anyway. But if they are high-showing and survive, they might be worth more than that (I have several 30+ horses). If they are poor show-ers - in which case, they'll be at the end of that search anyway - you can get your 2,500 without much fear of missing out.
