Maxing PT scores
-
When you max a horse, does the PT go up possibly depending on the parents of course, or is it only the paper? What all does have a chance of going higher?
-
They can both go up depending on the max the parents can give
-
What are the "hidden" numbers that we're not supposed to know about?
-
They are hidden and you are not supposed to know them. :PNeed to contact me? Read this first.

Do foals of the 1000 point horse stand a good chance of carrying some of the genes that made the 1000 points? Can I max the foals and get a higher pt than usual?
-
The 1000 points is not genetic at all. Points are not genetic.Post edited by Ammit at 2023-02-02 08:11:18Need to contact me? Read this first.

Why, then, do points usually go up as you breed further generations, for example the points on a generation 2 horse might be higher than on the 1st generation horse, and the 3rd generation higher still?
-
Because higher-level shows give more points.Need to contact me? Read this first.

So higher generation horses can go in higher shows? I get the feeling there's something I'm not understanding.
-
Higher PT can train higher, can get into higher shows, I think.Thanked by 1OopsDotCom

The better horses you breed, the higher score they can get, and thus compete in higher classes, and accumulate more points during their lifetime.
I'd put my money into breeding horses that paper higher and are superior to their parents to each other, rather than maxing them out with GMTs.Post edited by Herzeloyde at 2023-02-03 07:49:39 -
A perfect foundation C/Yellow mare and stallion may be able to max out in show levels 7N.
A 2nd generation foal from that pairing may max out in 7W
A 3rd gen foal may max out in level 8R
As you keep breeding horses that are better than their parents, your lines slowly improve and you get stronger show horses with each generation.
And I mean stronger horses as in their show score - not always total points. There is some variability to how they win and how much poiints they earn. But a horse that shows in level 8N earns more points than in Level 7N. -
The PT score is just a number. It is calculated from several parameters. Some factors we know, and some factors only Ammit know.
What we DO know (and Ammit, please correct me if I am wrong) is that one of the factors it is based on is the trainability of a horse. So a horse with a high PT score will probably train longer and get a higher training score before it levels out than a horse with a lower PT score.
With a higher training score, it can compete in higher classes, and get a chance to win more points in each competition.
How do you get higher PT scores? By breeding the best stallions you have with the best mares you have, and get lucky with the foals.
How do you see which horses who are the best breeders in your barn?
1) Paper level
2) Testing; If they paper higher than their parents, do they also pass all testing, and test superior to their parents?
3) Average foal PT; after they have had some foals, you can also see their AFPT on their family tab, and get a more precise idea of how good a breeder the horse is. This works best if you breed similar quality to similar quality, and not so good if you are bootstrapping.
What does the PT score tell you?
It is an indication that a horse with a higher PT f.ex Pt 13 will achieve a higher training score during their lifetime than a horse with f.ex. PT 11.
What does a PT score NOT tell you?
How many points the horse will get during its lifetime.
Why? Because this is a game, they will compete against other horses, and luck is a factor.
Some horses with low PTs are lucky and win all their competitions, and finish their showing career by leveling off in a sweet spot, while some horses with a higher score are unlucky and lose a lot.
And I will tell you a secret. All the PT scores have different qualities. The lower and middle PT scores will in general make you more money early in their life. They train slower, which means that they spend more time in each class, and if you are lucky and get some horses that spend a lot of time (or even level out) in a World-class show, you will have an amazing money maker. Even the lower and medium level World shows give out tonnes of points, compared to the Local or regional shows.
The horses with high or super-high PT score will run through the low classes and not stop long enough to make many points until they reach the highest possible class (8W). This means that you will need to wait about 8-10 months before they really start to earn money for you. When they begin to win, they will most likely pay you good in return, and be worth the waiting time.
But during that almost real life year it takes to wait for the super high PT-horses to win money, all the low-medium PT horses will have earned you lots of HBS and paid all your pixel bills.
So the secret to the game is to have as many show horses as you can get, with a WIDE range of PT-scores. Every PT score is important, as they bring in money from different levels, and some will bring in money earlier in their life, and some will bring in money later in their life.
So instead of focusing on an individual horse's PT score, try to focus more on raising the average quality of your foals, and remember that the highest PT may not be the one that gets you the most points in the game. I mean; how many horses with super high PT scores (14+) do you see on the lists in the links I am going to post now? Not many!
Some case studies:
Here is a search for lined horses sorted after All Time Points as 6 year olds. This is the generation that would have competed for the futurities 5 days ago. Look how their PT score range from 11 to 14:
https://www.huntandjump.com/adv_search.php?runsearch=go&jump=0&hpp=100&agee=6&f_adv=points_py&foundation=0&56=0&57=0&58=0&59=0&60=0&61=0
Now look at the horses sorted after All Time Points as 10 year olds. Now the horses with PTs between 13 and 14 is beginning to show up more.
https://www.huntandjump.com/adv_search.php?runsearch=go&jump=0&hpp=100&agee=10&f_adv=points_py&foundation=0&56=0&57=0&58=0&59=0&60=0&61=0
But for the 17 year olds, the PTs around 13.5 seems to dominate still
https://www.huntandjump.com/adv_search.php?runsearch=go&jump=0&hpp=100&agee=17&f_adv=points_py&foundation=0&56=0&57=0&58=0&59=0&60=0&61=0
And they continue to dominate even well into their 20's:
https://www.huntandjump.com/adv_search.php?runsearch=go&jump=0&hpp=100&agee=22&f_adv=points_py&foundation=0&56=0&57=0&58=0&59=0&60=0&61=0
And finally, here are the horses lucky enough to survive to become the horses with most points in the entire game:
https://www.huntandjump.com/adv_search.php?runsearch=go&jump=0&hpp=100&f_adv=points_py&foundation=0&56=0&57=0&58=0&59=0&60=0&61=0

Wow so much I didn't know. Thank you everyone for your time and understanding. I'm going to star this page and re read it til it sticks in my head.
-
And the great news about the PT 13.5 (-ish) doing so well in general, is that with careful breeding over time, utilizing the pasture bonus, etc, it is possible to get there without boosting the horses
-
I think you can get 14s with out boosting but I am not positive. If not you can get very close.Need to contact me? Read this first.

This is a challenge I want to try with my foundation line.
I think I started boosting around 13 with my old line when boosts became available for the first time (shiny new function and all that), and many years later I realised that I could have waited -
And we now also have many in-game functions and tools that we didn't have 10-15 years ago, so it will be a fun goal for sure!

I am so far at 13.60pt with just maxing out alone. I havent pastured any of them yet but plan to do so soon. I enjoy the max feature.
