I bred a bunch of decent mares to a Star stallion at the very start of my bootstrap program.
I neutered all the boys and kept track of their points. I was fairly certain that the losers in the first year would be consistently losers. I was wrong, as you can see some of my best horses today at age 10 didn't even earn a full point. However, everyone who got 2 points is still a good horse today. (all of these horses were low 12 pt or high 11 pt)
