Show us your best Percheron horse reference images
-
What makes a good reference photo? Images should have:
-Bright, clear lighting, without overly dark shadows
-Be side-on shots with the photo taken square to the shoulder, like the current images in the game.
-Be good examples of the breed type.
-Show as much of the horse as possible, tall grass hides a lot of leg details.
-Bonus if we can clearly see at least some of each leg.
-Limited, or ideally no tack at all.
-Extra thick and chonky please
-In addition to the nice square on body shots if you have an image of a body part (like a head, mane, tail etc) that you think is particularly nice feel free to share it but we need square full body shots more than anything.
We need adult horses AND foal images (around age 6 months, not newborns).Need to contact me? Read this first.

Windermere’s ads are just incredible
-
Just slid in to say, as someone who is used to only seeing the more work-style shorter/thicker Percherons, seeing all of these tall, leggy show-type boys is so strange! I love all these big (c)hunks, but I sure love my chunky shorties too(like the gray with the red ribbon in the running braid and the Bay with the white headstall, posted by RedtailFoxFarm).Post edited by MackZ at 2023-05-05 22:43:13

I will be honest I am not really getting what we are looking for. I think we may need to change breeds or specify British and French not American Percherons.
I was thinking of horses like this.

Hard to find good photos of horses like this though.
I mean look at what the breed used to be!Post edited by Ammit at 2023-05-06 05:03:01Need to contact me? Read this first.

they used to be Chonky oversized Cobbs lol. Now they look more like what Friesians used to look like lol

That's why our game will never have real breeds. I have zero interest in color restrictions.
I edited your post because you had bad html breaking your links.Post edited by Ammit at 2023-05-06 07:06:41Need to contact me? Read this first.

What about Belgians/Brabants?Post edited by RedtailFoxFarm at 2023-05-06 07:08:11Thanked by 1ichigo

Yeah, percherons (american at least) have gotten so hitchy.
Maybe a pulling style belgian would suit, instead of a hitch style belgian?
This isn't the reference type photo you need, but my friend's dad has these two champ pulling boys that are massive.
More like this?
Old timey percheron -
It seems to me that given the draft type we already have and the Friesian sport horse being between that and a warmblood there is no reason to settle for a draft that is anything less than an absolute unit.

The horse in the third pic with the lady on it reminds me of Big Ed from 90 Day Fiancé for some reason lolPost edited by RedtailFoxFarm at 2023-05-06 10:22:42

Can you imagine the collar that would have to go on that guy with the lady sitting on him!?
-
I was thinking of an English or Dressage saddle LoL ; I dont think they make the trees that wide or the girths that long to accomodate that back/wither/ belly size lolol
-
And if they did, you probably couldn't tighten the girth enough to keep the saddle from just sliding around down the side! :))
I love the look of those Suffolk Punches. Every part of them is just a plump chunk. Can't even imagine how much they eat. Brabants are gorgeous too with those big feathers. I only heard about them last year when I saw a youtube video about using them for work. -

Hard to find foals of any draft breed, but I thought that one might do it. :-))

:-?

These are the only other two semi decent ones I can find. If you type in yearling draft and search, all it shows is leggy skinny horses.
-
Going through images of draft foals, I’m beginning to realize just how badly so many of them photograph
-
Perpetually grumpy?
-
It seems so
They’re also just extra high in the rump and super leggy and gangly once they get towards the 6 month or yearling mark. They don’t stay cute for long lol
