Opequon Creek Ranch Dun Drafts for Stud - Eras 12 and 14!
-
Howdy! Here at Opequon Creek Ranch, located in the wild and wonderful mountains of West Virginia, we have been working on a new line of specialty drafts that we are proud to release to the public! Our program focuses on breeding loud and brightly colored working drafts, complete with the 3 C's - Color, Chrome, and stunning Conformation. Whether you're breeding for flashy carriage horses, showing in harness teams, or simply riding for pleasure, our studs pass their gentle and hard working temperaments onto their foals, and are sure to delight.
All of our studs will be available to pull straws at 1,500 hbs per straw. If you are interested in futurity locking foals, let me know and I'll discount the fee to pull price, 500 hbs per straw!
OCR Void Coefficient
Sparkling with hundreds of Belton freckles and deep liver brindle stripes, Void Coefficient isn't just another pretty face! He's surefooted and loves to work, and we have him up in our dense forest for logging when he isn't out flirting with the mares in pasture.
While he's focused at work and a big people pleaser, Void has become a little bit of a jokester on our farm as of late, and has figured out how to unlock the gates to go for a little jaunt around the property when he gets a bit too bored. Interestingly enough, he will let the other horses out with him on occasion, but always leaves Crit in the barn. (We think they may have a little rivalry going on.)
Although he's whip-smart and picks up training in a flash, he is incredibly patient with beginners and children. We hope to see many of his offspring carrying on his incredible personality and intelligence in generations to come!
Please be mindful when breeding, as Void carries a copy of lethal white overo and splash M!

OCR Prompt Criticality
Prompt Criticality is one of our flashiest boys on offer, carrying the rare mutation called Chimerism, which means he can potentially pass on genes from either his grullo strand of DNA, or the brown. Peeking out from behind his fluffy KP clouds and stunning metallic roan sheen are absolutely massive appaloosa spots, as well as fancy dun brindle striping! Although not super apparent through his ridiculously loud coat patterns, he's also tested for the kit gene white 3, and often passes the gene to his offspring! He's got a ton of diversity, and can produce dun livers, bays, browns, and more, all with a splash of his characteristic white spotting or roan.
Crit is quite the gentleman and seems to preen with attention, turning heads on a hitch everywhere we drive him. We currently have him hitched on carriages for weddings and events, and boy does he pose for a camera! He certainly knows he's pretty, but hasn't let it get to his head (yet). When Crit isn't out working, he's usually in the front pasture greeting visitors and begging for treats like the ham he is.
Take a chance with Crit and roll the dice today!
Breeders Note: I bought Crit instead of creating him, so he sadly does not carry my breed name. He's still an important part of the OCR breeding program, and hopefully you won't mind!

OCR Sawyer
From our smaller offshoot line, named for the Severn River that flows into the great Chesapeake Bay, Sawyer is our favorite public stud that carries gray on offer. His flashy (and numerous!) Belton freckles, wild dun striping, and large white factor carry well on to offspring, but please be careful breeding, as he also carries lethal white overo.
We can't wait to see him dapple out in his retirement years, but it will be quite a while before that happens, as he also carries two copies of gray reduction. Pair with a homozygous gray mare for faster dappling, or a mare with no gray or gray reduction for longer lasting color. We love watching his offspring dapple out as they age, and change from season to season.
Sawyer is a magnificent mover despite his size, and as a pet project we are training him in dressage (just to prove we can!). He is patient, mindful, and shows well in halter, but isn't afraid to get dirty and pull his weight whenever we need him up at our logging operation with the other horses. A true Jack of all trades, his offspring have plenty of potential for whatever applications you may need!
