Write a breed description, win that breed characteristic! Ends Tuesday Morning (July 25th)
-
I am running a quick contest to write the descriptions for the new breed characteristics. For each one, I need a roughly 250-character-long blurb about the real-life breed (about 3 sentences). It must be between 200 and 300 characters long. This is strictly enforced and I will toss out anything less than 200 or more than 300 characters.
Please use a Character Counter to confirm your length before posting.
https://wordcounter.net/character-count
I need a blurb about the Saddlebred, the *Friesian, and the Suffolk Punch.
*Please note that our Fresian is the modern style with a sport horse build, not the baroque version and not the crossbred version. Those would be future BC art types, please make your entries reflect the Modern Friesian.
-To enter simply post your blurb below. You can write for one or multiple of the breeds. You can enter as many times per breed as you want.
-I will only be picking one winner per breed across all three servers. (3 winners total) Winners will be picked Tuesday morning and will receive 5 BC tokens to unlock a new breed characteristic of their choice.
Thanks so much for sharing your creativity and breed knowledge with me.Post edited by Ammit at 2023-07-23 09:23:01Need to contact me? Read this first.

Suffolk Punch:
The Suffolk Punch is a draught breed of horse originating from England. The breed was developed in the 16th century for farm work. Once popular in the 20th century, the breed then almost disappered completely due to incresed mechanised agriculture and was listed as "critical".
Im not sure if this is what you're looking for or if you more-so want characteristic type blurbs about what they typically are built/look like.Post edited by HayesStable at 2023-07-23 09:18:33Bluegrass Server: HayesStable - 221755

Thanking about it, descriptions that cover what the breeds tend to look like, more than the breed history are probably the most helpful.Need to contact me? Read this first.

Bringing a ton of dynamite in a solid little red package, the Suffolk Punch is one of the oldest British draft breeds. Known for being a draft on the short side, this stocky "can-do" bundle has a calm even temper that belies it's glowing chesnut coat.
The "American-made" Saddlebred is a versatile, flashy breed that comes in many coats colors. Three or five gaited, this peacock of the show world is well known for being friendly and outgoing with the deportment and bearing worthy of being called the world's most beautiful horse.Post edited by bluchrystals at 2023-07-23 14:01:19Thanked by 1annismyrph -

The commonly black Freisan sporthorse seems to be a breed made of a piece of the night sky with their satin coats, thick manes, and tails. An elegant athletic appearance enhanced by the light feathering on their agile legs, the breed is gentle and good for beginners and experienced riders alike.Thanked by 1annismyrph

24 hours left to enter. Here are my 3 current front-runner entries to help you gauge what I am looking for.
The Saddlebred has an elegant and refined head with a kind eye. They have a long arching neck that slopes into a strong and muscular shoulder. The defined withers transition into the short, strong back with a level croup. Their legs are straight and correct with long, sloping pasterns.
The modern Friesian is a majestic and powerful breed with a lighter type and warmblood-like movements. They have a muscular frame with flowing mane and tail, refined head, and expressive eyes. They often have an upright, rectangular appearance due to being longer in the leg and length of body.
The Suffolk Punch has a powerful, arching neck; well-muscled, sloping shoulders; a short, wide back; and a muscular, broad croup. Legs are short and strong, with broad joints; sound, well-formed hooves; and little or no feathering on the fetlocks. They tend to be shorter but more massively built.

Gonna give it another go!
The American Saddlebred is a light-bodied breed with a straight, elegant head, a soft eye, and a long arched neck that ties well into a strong shoulder and back with a flat croup. The tail set is high, and the legs are long and correct.
The modern Friesian is a sportier type than the original draft breed it descends from, boasting a lighter frame, while still being muscular and well-shaped. The neck is strong and arched, with sloped shoulder, short back, strong hindquarter, and long legs with short, correct pasterns.

Known as “The Horse America Made”, the American Saddlebred is a high-stepping light breed. These refined horses are best known for their well-shaped, straight-profiled head atop a long, slender, arched neck paired with a dramatic high-set tail.

Known as “The Horse America Made", the American Saddlebred is a high-stepping light breed. These refined horses are best known for their well-shaped, straight-profiled head atop a long, slender, arched neck. They are also characterized by a short, strong back and a long, almost level croup.
The modern Friesian is leaner and lighter-boned than its predecessors, making them popular in the show ring. Known for their iconic long, flowing, wavy manes and tails, they are also identifiable by their light feathering, muscular build, short back, and thick, high-set, arched neck.
The Suffolk Punch is aptly named for the old English word for a short, stout person. This breed, while large, is compact with muscle and heavy bone. Their legs are short and strong, with broad joints and little to no feathering. These gentle giants have short, wide backs and a powerful arching neck.

Highly spirited with elegant movement, the Saddlebred is a versatile riding horse known for its high leg action and smooth ride. They are athletic with a strong, short back transitioning smoothly to a level croup. Their long, arched neck and high head and tail carriage define their appearance.
A beautiful combination of refinement and power, the modern Friesian is an ideal sport horse with warmblood-like movement. They have long legs and a high, noble head carriage with a calm and expressive eye. Their thick, wavy mane and tail and feathered pasterns add to their majestic bearing.
Power and an easy temperament make the Suffolk Punch a true gentle giant. This draft breed has a massive hindquarters and shoulder and a well-muscled neck. Despite their size, they have good energy. Their large bones and joints and heavy hooves with minimal feathering make them a highly sound breed.Thanked by 1Ammit -
Modern Friesians have an upright, compact build with a high set neck coming from strong, sloping shoulders. The well-angled hind end bears a low-set tail. The legs are long and lightly feathered. The head is somewhat short with small, well-shaped ears, a large, kind eye, and wide nostrils.
