A couple questions!
-
1.) Is it just coat color genetics that are passed on to a foal from the parents, or are other things passed on like show potential, inconsistency, etc?
2.) What do all of the letters mean when they show up on a horses page for genetic testing? I know the basics like what the letters e, a, c, d, and I know the genetic combo for lethal white but that's about it.
3.) What are some reasons that you might yum or sell a horse? I have a few that I want to either yum or sell, but at the same time I wonder if its worth it to keep them? Perhaps patience could be the key to a good horse in the game? I am having a hard time making a decision.
4.) Does anyone show their foals before they are able to be trained? Or is it best to wait until they are a certain age and trained?
-
1.) The show potential and breeding ability of the foal is passed down from the breeding ability of the parents. Inconsistency is passed down from the inconsistency of the parents.
2. Take a peak at the genetics section of the forum, it is too long to answer in one post, the letters are representation of certain genes.
3. It all depends on your personal goal for your stable, do they fit into your breeding plans? Are they making you money? Do you need the stall space?
4. I don't though do not know now if maybe it is worth it in the new show system.
I hope that helps! -

This is the link to the Genetics thread with pictures on the old forum. I think you will be able to get to it.

There have been some new genes added to the game since it was written. Sa is satin, a very limited edition gene, that is recessive like flaxen, and needs to be homozygous to be seen. I is Ice, a fantasy gene that has several variations. It too is limited edition and not at all common. Ammit has recently added brown and wild bay alleles to the A gene. You should be able to find information about them in this forum. All of these show up in the gene test.
Untestable new genes include Gulastra Plume that gives bay horses that are homozygous for it a tail that is white from the bottom up. Kit Enhancer gives horses that are both homozygous for KP and have two Kit alleles (white, sabino, roan, tobiano) milky white, hazy white patches spreading out from the base white places on their coats. The newest of these is the Dense Pheomelanin that gives us Liver Chestnuts and "Black" Chestnuts. It works in conjunction with the Sooty gene. None of these colors show up on the gene test. You have to keep track of horses that might be carrying them in some way, in their notes, or, if you're upgraded enough, by tattoos.
