Horse Damage
  • If a horse receives damage does if effect their showing ability or breeding ability? what does it mean besides the game taking money from you? Thanks in advance!
  • A long time ago before we had all the testing available to us damages were introduced to show the horses quality. Poor quality horses would have more damages (some barns even bred for “bad” horses to see how bad they could get) but now most of the testing weeds out the really bad quality and what’s left over doesn’t usually produce too much damages.

My show horses earn enough to cover any bad showers and damage producers so I don’t bother weeding them out. For a smaller barn as long as their income from shows and points cover the damages I’d leave them be too. I’d only get concerned and check if they were having triple digit damages in one go

  • Thank you! So my next question is can it be passed down? Say this horse is Gold paper and has good PT score and has been through all the testing. Is the damage rates totally random or can they be passed down depending on how the parents are? And does it determine the quality of the horse?
  • Overall quality is inheritable but just because a stud or mare has damages doesn’t mean that the goal is automatically going to have damages too. Nor that the horse will reoffend.

I have roughly 2,000 horses on this server and only have 3 or 4 horses that have had damages this last week. On my contest account I’ve had 6hbs of damage total and I know quite a few of the horses I’ve gotten have quite a few damages listed previous to me owning them but they haven’t reoffended since I’ve bought them.

For the most part it’s 1-3hbs which I equate to they walked off the path and left a hoof mark on the grass. One day had 10hbs pretty sure it was split between 2 horses but I equate that to a broken bucket hook or gate latch needed repair.

The ones with triple digits I figure could be like my real life horse and really accident prone and you needed to call the vet because he’s come in with a bloody face from cutting his eyelid open or a nasty cut on his leg from who knows what because there’s not much in the field that could cut him open with. Then you have to decide if the vet bills are worth it.

If you have a particular horse your wondering about it’s always best to post a link (even if it’s just an example of what your wondering about)

  • Thank You Bandit! It was just 1hb so nothing major. I was just curious about the whole process since I am newer. Thanks for your help!
  • Usually my rule of thumb is that if a horse paid the bills for itself it’s minor and not to worry about it.

To check, use the formula below to find out how much a horse contributes to your weekly show bonus or divide it by 7 to get the daily show bonus amount.
