Vote for which Breed Characteristics we should add next.

I decided I am going to run a vote after all. I compiled people's suggestions and you can vote on random matchups to figure out the desirability ranking of each breed.

Arabian is not on this list because of the overwhelming number of requests for them. They will be the first one added.

Not going to lie, I squealed when I saw Akhal Teke pop up. Only took me 26 votes lol.

Ya, there are a ton of options, all suggestions people made in the thread. I think I may take the top ones and then run the poll again with just them.Need to contact me? Read this first.

Here is the current ranking as of last night. I will run this for another day or two. Then run it again with just the top 10 to make a final ranking. Will probably also combine the Andalusian and Lusitano into one option as they don't look different enough to justify having both come out back to back.

Team American Shetland and Foundation Quarter Horse ;)
Also I’ve never heard of a Sugarbush Harlequin until this moment lol! -
It was fun looking up horse breeds like the Fell that I never heard of
-
They are awesome The Sugarbush Harlequin Draft horse is an American made draft, it is rare and the founder of the breed crossed draft horses with the Appaloosa horses, he wanted a draft horse with the beautiful Appaloosa coat and so the Sugarbush Harlequin Draft horse was born. Team AQH, Kladruber and ASBH Draft :D
This is Harley Quinn the foundation sire for the ASBH draft horse, his son is even better Harley's Classic O

Coming in strong at #5, yay Team Teke!!
-
I had thought from the first feedback posts that morgans would be more popular but looks like the Teke's are significantly more popular.Need to contact me? Read this first.

Anything with feathers and/or a nice exotic body build. :x

@Fiddler Me too, though I knew about the Fell. I first heard about it in an episode of All Creatures Great and Small, otherwise I'm sure I never would have heard of it around here where I live. I think it was mostly draft breeds I had to look up, and some of the ponies and sport/warmblood types that I knew by name but had to look up to be sure of what I was voting on.

Negative numbers? People voted no more than yes?
-
@annismyrph I think for each vote between two choices the one voted for must have gotten a +1 and the one voted against must have gotten a -1, so some in the end got negative total scores.Thanked by 1annismyrph

The three breeds I was most hoping for have dropped:( but hopefully they will still be added some day.Post edited by RKO at 2023-08-22 14:54:42Bluegrass id:182429

So excited to see Mustangs on the list. I have over 20yrs working with them. But they come in all shapes depending on what was released in the different areas. Pony sized like the Pine Nuts, ones you would swear are full quarter, and big drafty types especially in mid and northern Nevada. Also Fell ponies like my sister's, sorry to see it is not doing better. I may have been able to get her hooked on this game.
I wonder if the Arabian will be the older type Arabian, or the newer with longer backs and necks?
Looks like I need to start an HB savings account. ☺️ -
I like Mustangs too, some Mustangs are also
Gaited too and they remind me of Paso Fino looking horses too, I go to the extreme Mustang make over shows in my state. But I do hope all the horses listed will be added some day.Bluegrass id:182429

I had the same, I guess you might say "concern", about the mustang option. There are so many different types of mustangs. My favorites are the Kiger Mustangs from Eastern Oregon. I love their thicker, more Spanish look. They remind me of the original Conquistadores horses, more so than most other mustangs.

Like with the Arabian, if it gets picked we would see what reference images we liked and decide from there.Need to contact me? Read this first.

Yay vanners!

Well I was hoping that the Sugarbush and Kladruber would have done a bit better, but having the Quarter Horse and Mustang higher in the ranking now is great. Also is the Andy and Luci going to be combined for the top 10 vote? They are very similar in looks except for maybe tail set but everything else are similar in many ways. Don't get me wrong I think both breeds are amazing but between the two I believe the Andy is an older breed, just wondering.Post edited by RKO at 2023-08-23 07:24:06Bluegrass id:182429

Kind of sad that very few of the light horse types are ranked high. Especially since I primarily breed light horses.
I might potentially be able to breed their weight up if a BC caught my fancy enough, but I’m also just a light breed fan in general.
When I went through the voting it didn’t seem like many light horse options showed up. I got TB and Teke a little bit and Morgan once, but mostly it was the other weights. -
There are not nearly as many light-boned breeds. Keep in mind foundation Morgans are medium, not light. Just the modern Morgans would be light-boned. Also, the Arabian is already happening. :)Post edited by Ammit at 2023-08-23 07:44:31Need to contact me? Read this first.

I'm a little sad the Shire dropped out of the top ten but I'm thrilled about a bunch of the others in the lead. I'm already hunting down some Andalusian/Lusitano conformation shots. :)

I will probably start looking for the Quarter horse, but wimpy, King and Leo are the true foundation stock of the Quarter horse, it is going to be challenging. My own AQH did have some old bloodline in his pedigree. I just need to find a good side photo of him. I posted Picture of Bear with a saddle on, most of his photos are on him enjoying his favorite passtime, grazing lolBluegrass id:182429

I understand why it is easy to think that they are similar, but when you look closer, you will see the differences, they are bred for two completely different uses.
Spanish horses (PRE) is bred for beauty, show, carriage, parades and exaggerated movements and high knee lift, and tend to have big, powerfull front part, and a more open ("banana shaped") topline/pelvis and longer backs. The head is usually more straight than the Lusitano.
PRE champion:
Portuguese horses (Lusitano) is bred as a working horse under rider. They should be convex in all lines, with the pelvis under them, ready to move forward with power from a big engine behind. The body is more quadratic, and the nose convex
Lusitano:
(I have several more examples of course, and I really understand that a game may need to create an "Iberian horse", but the differences is bigger than many think from the first look)Post edited by Herzeloyde at 2023-08-23 08:38:14 -
They are only substantially different to people within the breed though. That is why they have nearly identical scores. People see them as one. Sap green and chromium green are very different if you are a painter. They are just yellow greens to anyone else.
Not saying it is not important or worth caring about, but from a game standpoint, I don't need to add both right now. Just like I don't need to add a Polish Arab and an Egyptian Arab both right now.Post edited by Ammit at 2023-08-23 08:53:48Need to contact me? Read this first.

Beautiful horses, the bay Lusi almost reminds me of a Kladruber with that big roman nose.
I found a King bred horse and many others too :)
