Ashkevron Warhorses - Reduced Grey Breeding Program
-
With the introduction of Breeds, I'm so happy to combine my favorite Authors (Mercedes Lackey & Larry Dixon) with this game. If you like fantasy, magic and horses that aren't horses (iykyk), you'll love the World of Valdemar. In the World of Valdemar, there is a historic family called the Ashkevrons. They are mostly known for the horses they produce, having some of the best mounts in all of Valdemar. While they have different breeding programs, the ones most mentioned are the Hunters and War Horses. According to history, generations ago the Ashkevrons bought an ugly grey Battle Steed from the Shin'a'in People. He had a sour temper, but had great intelligence, strength, and stamina. At the time they knew war was coming, so they bred this Grey Stud to the Hunters and Plough Horses. His color and characteristics were so strong, that it can be seen in his current descendants. Cheshire Farms purchased 2 Stallions and 10 Mares to form the foundation of our breeding program.About Our Breeding Program
The Ashkevron Horses should come in Medium to Heavy type with various sizes depending on their purpose. Colors should be solid, and often dark, with a high occurrence of Grey. Due to the importation of pure Shin'a'in Blood in later years, they can also come in Dun and Roan. There is also a very small percentage of horses that carry cream. It is believed that these cream horses descend directly from the historic Valdemar Golds*, and not from imported Shin'a'in bloodlines. The Ashkevron Standard

E/e, A/a, G/-, gr/gr, R/-The Ashkevrons at Cheshire Farms started with 2 Foundation Stallion Lines (Fleuri & Gregori), and 10 Foundation Mare Lines (Adeline, Baillet, Bayard, Carbonel, Cazadora, Fauvel, Ferrant, Ja Lor*, Liard, and Petra). We later imported the Brown mare Sabine, Black mare Vendela, and Silver Bay mare Orsola.Naming Conventions of the Ashkevron
Foundation imports are registered with their given name and designated as being from Ashkevron (___ de Ashkevron). Lined Stallions are not given a registered name until the age of 3 when they undergo assessment for breeding. Approved Breeding Stallions are then registered with their Sire Line, and their Dam Line. In the case of multiple horses having the same name, roman numerals are used (Gregori de Baillet II). Lined Mares are given a unique name at birth which is prefaced by AshKV until they are assessed for breeding (AshKV Inanna). At the age of 3 they undergo the same assessment for Stallions, and if they pass their name is officially registered as their given name and Mare Line (Inanna de Ferrant). Horses possessing the prefix AshKV are intended for competition and given consideration for sale.
*Ja Lor is believed to descend from the original Valdemar Golds.Since these horses do not carry any special genes, they will all be available publicly and will be able to be found using the search option here.Horses For Sale & Auction
