I've found it easier for me to get gmts from my era 0 lines especially when it comes to color clubs, the first futurity my era 0 did better than all my other eras (but that was the first futurity when things were fresh and people didnt have much of a plan). He was easier to advertise too, my other eras didn't have many takers. Used just enough to fill gaps in the board.
I guess some people have it differently with difficulty.
Era 0 club (instead of the color clubs) I've been playing for years and I have yet to benefit from that club. Most if not all of my top producing color club stallions that rank anywhere from 2nd- 10 can't even begin to compete in the era club.

If you want to breed for eras but don't want to compete with the mega barns you need to go for any era other than 0. 14.1 is the top in era 1. 15 is the top in era 0. Era 1- doesn't even hit 13. Plenty of places to compete.
