A Helpful Strategy When Creating Horses
-
I expect that some of you have already come up with this yourselves, but I thought that I'd share it for any players who end up disappointed because they mistakenly hit the "Dismiss This Herd Helper" button instead of the "Share on Forum" one.
I've mentally kicked myself quite a few times when a DHH "mysteriously" vanished, especially when it was a rank special.
So, now, as I scroll down through the available DHH's, I only stop the scrolling when the "Share on Forum" button is the only one visible. I haven't lost a DHH since I started doing this a few days ago.
My father used to quote one of the famous actresses of the 1930's who said, "Growing old ain't for sissies." I forget her name, since I wasn't alive while she was still making movies. I'm finding out how true that is as I continue to age. :DThanked by 1ChateauAlbere -
i don't understand, they all say "dismiss this herd helper"
-
Yes, of course they do. It's a necessary function.
However, I found that when the "Dismiss" button, which is now the largest blue thing visible, was sitting there at the top of the Herd Helper box, I would be automatically drawn to it and click on it when that was NOT what I intended to do. By moving it out of sight, I remove the chance that I will click on it when I don't want to dismiss the herd helper yet. The mistake usually happened when I was pressed for time and moving down the list of herd helpers rather quickly.
By shifting it out of sight, I prevent an automatic, almost reflex, response to the most prominent thing in view. I think, if I'm remembering correctly, (not always something I do anymore), in the older Herd Helper format the button to dismiss the herd helper was at the bottom of the announcement and not especially prominent. It's just taking me a while to adjust to the new format.Thanked by 1ChateauAlbere -
Thanks, Maribo. I'll try to remember that.

Ah! Got it, thanks
