A suggestion to aid those big barns with the coming change
-
It seems the primary concern is that you will be unable to breed fast enough. Obliviously to breed faster you need pastures. I think allowing you to purchase pastures via IVs this month may help ease the transition tremendously. I have very real hesitations about this being the best idea for the long term server stability, but you all being able to still play is very important to me as well.
I would probably just offer 100 slot pastures, and the price would of course cost more than barns because of the long term effect of pastures, but I think that is a fair compromise between the needs of the game and the needs of the people who make it awesome.
80 IVs would put it right at the price of a 210 stall barn and that seems pretty comparable in value.
I would be interested in any feedback, of if this would help smooth the transition for you.

I think this is a good idea and opportunity. Thank you for taking our concerns seriouslyThanked by 1Visions

Who can say no to more pastures?
It IS a big transition for us, but there's zero way around the fact that pasture breeding is faster than manual breeding (nevermind the other advantages pastures give.) I know a few more of these would help me organize breeding better than I do now.Thanked by 1Visions -
YES! I was thinking of suggesting a sale on pastures, but buying with IVs is 100% more awesomeness <3ID 195859Thanked by 1Visions

Yes, this would help greatly. Thank you for listening.Post edited by Visions at 2018-04-04 11:30:26

*glees*Who honors those we love for the very life we live? Who sends monsters to kill us and at the same time sings that we will never die? Who teaches us what's real and how to laugh at lies? Who decides why we live and what we'll die to defend? Who chains us and who holds the key that can set us free? It's You! You have all the weapons you need, now fight!

Yes! This would help a TON!Licenses for everything. I have a pixel pony hoarding problem.
-
It would help certainly. Personally I'm not all that worried about pasture bonuses other than for my high gen horses that seem to need it. But a couple of extras to use would be useful.
To be honest it's the time I take breeding the special horses that I will lose, the satins, nexus, watercolours that require thought and some planning and a bit of love. The high FP embryos that take time.
As others have said, if it will save HJ1 then we'll change and get used to it, and I understand our large long term barns do little to support the game financially. But it does make me sad as I fear much of what makes this server special will be gone.
-
That will be an awesome help for a lot of people! Thank you! I utilize pastures pretty heavily anyway, but will welcome the opportunity to pick up another. Better start saving, I just cashed in on a 1000 stall barn a few hours ago. lol!Post edited by sparklingmeadows at 2018-04-04 12:34:37

Would the stall surcharge apply to pastures bought with IVs?

Sounds like this should help out then. I'll bump other projects to work on this tomorrow for you all. You also have your higher daily payouts already so that should help fund some pastures and help ease the time needed for breeding.Need to contact me? Read this first.

Wow that is super nice of you. I was just thinking I needed more pasture because I was too lazy to actually hand breed the higher generations. (currently my 4th gen is so inbred I am making them all show horses - golds and stars but high PT's lol)

This is brilliant. Just to help take some pressure off since RL commitments seem to be exploding out of control and game time is getting pretty tough to find.Player ID 76088

Question: so horses in pastures do not earn points because they can't show? So the more horses I have in pastures the less money I make? With more pastures does this mean I need to keep more stallions as they only get 50 live covers a year? and now they are going to age faster?
I live the idea of getting pastres for IV but I am very confused as to how all this is going to work and how it will affect my earnings -
Horses in pastures do not show, so they do not earn points.
Whether it significantly impacts your income will depend on what percentage of your herd you keep in pasture, and whether you just put them in the pasture for rapid breeding. Technically you won't have more horses going forward than you did before; you'll breed every month instead of every 2 months, but you'll be losing horses every month now too as they age out of the game more regularly.
Also our income -
Your income has already increased to match.
You don't have to leave horses in the pastures. Just dump mares in, breed and then pull them right out. They never have to miss a single show. You don't have to do anything. Play in the style that works for you. This opportunity is for those who can't find the time to breed and/or are worried about the costs for their herd. Pastures are far faster to breed and far cheaper. The 30day bonus is just that, a bonus. You don't need to utilize it and I am guessing most large barns won't. They need show horses not intact breeding stock.Need to contact me? Read this first.

OKay Sorry for the repeat here. I posted the following on the "venting" thread, but I didn't get answers to the questions. this thread has more people commenting on it. I feel with the new change I am going to need help from other players that already have HJ2 accounts.
Again I apologize for the repeats and whatnot:
I've been here for 11 years and I really don't want to start over. I adore the more relaxed pace here. I really don't want to have to start over again in fact I don't think I would. I;ve spent too long building what I have.
I understand the need to make it easier on the servers and and to try to get new players over here.
I am really not happy with the horses aging so much faster. can you not make them age .5 years (6 months) instead of 1 year each month? maybe allow them to live longer and breed long to balance it out. I spend too much on them for them to age out that quickly and I know some of the old time players do as well.
I also don't fully understand the new aging processes and how that's going to work. I tried hj2 and I found it too different and too fast paced. I came here and stayed.
What will this mean for gmts, and the breeding lab?
I do a lot of gmts and boosting and cloning.. how is this going to be affected?
I saw a post about pastures.. does this mean I need to increase my number of stallions to get everything bred and then only keep my special girls for AI? Will there be changes to the breeding lab? One change I wish for is that the horses drop down menus didn't change until you change them or you run out of eggs/straws.. kinds of like the selling ones don't move.
Are the genetics going to change? Whats differnt on HJ2?
This is a lot to grasp in a short amount of time. I am pretty sure I am going to need a little (okay a lot) of help with some of this and to be honest while I understand why it must be done, I'm just not happy. In a fast paced world.. this is just relaxing and informative and peaceful for me. they change is going to be hard...

The horses are still going to be around for at least 1year 2months (if created as a 4year old) to 1year 6 months (of created as a yearling) before being eligible to age out so they are still going to be around for a while.
If the number of stallions you already have covers all your mares you don’t need to get more. The pastures just make breeding easier when you can dump <100 mares into a field and breed.<br />
Honestly I have a ton of pastures on HJ1 and 1 primary pasture on HJ2 with a similar # of mares on both games to breed and am ok with either being able to sort mares into pastures and set it to auto breed or manually hit the button or I still breed through some generations one horse at a time
GMT and breeding labs, genetics are the same.
The only things I would change is your breeding selection system if it takes you the entire 2 months to finish all your breeding if you log in and breed every day. If you only breed here and there or can finish your breeding in a day or two you should be fineBreeding even generation Grullos with KP, Axiom RBG & Wrong Warp, Chinnchilla, Onyx, Phantom Autumn, Bats, Ghosts, Pumpkins, Skulls & Spiders, Plaid, Watercolour genes -
I really don't want to start over. I
I don't understand why you think you would be starting over. I think you may have misunderstood what is happening. The game will be identical to now but you breed every month instead of every other. Nothing else is changing.

Pastures for ivs! It is like Christmas in April. :)Specializing high quality dark horses with lots of chrome.

Thanks for the pasture purchase option, I just want to add one thing I think will be an issue for me and anyone who buys and sells anything to me. I like the two month aging because I work full time, and am busy outside work. This means it can take some time for me to respond to horse, straw and egg sales. Limiting each year to one month means I will probably be out of my means time-wise to respond to requests. I’m a full time working adult, and although it might not seem a big deal to some to just get on and get straws, eggs and sales sorted, it will affect me that way. Four weeks just doesn’t seem like enough, especially when the generations will go by quickly. For me, I believe my overall quality of breeding will decrease. I probably won’t GMT as much because I won’t have time to breed the way I want (which includes organizing my barn). So I don’t know where my daily show bonus will go. I’m supposing I’ll give it a couple months to see if I can find a way to utilize the game the way I do now to justify a premium membership.
I’m not saying this is negative as a whole, just saying what I think will happen with my game play. I understand the need as far this as far as server stuff goes (well, I actually understand nothing about it, but I believe it).
Again, these are just my thoughts. -
I want to add, by “breeding what I want” I mean taking the time to find appropriate matches for my special horses. This includes both in house and outside lines. The quicker the generations go by, the longer it takes me to breed the quality I want.

Totally zoned out after reading the initial post about the shortened years and thought, wow I could really use more pastures, but I can't put the RL money down, Ammit said she'd never do IV pastures.
Pleasantly surprised, thank you!
