LIVE -Bluegrass gets to be the test subjects for our new shopping cart system. -Tell us how it goes!
  • We are leaving PayPal behind and switching over all of our payment systems to a new payment processor called Braintree. This is the same payment processor used by companies like OpenTable, Poshmark, AirBnB, ModCloth, DropBox, Yelp, and lots more. You will still be able to use PayPal to make purchases but you can also use a credit card directly. In the near future, you will also be able to use services like Venmo and Apple Pay to make game purchases too.

    Don't worry, we still won't have anything to do with your credit card info. All of that will happen securely via Braintree. We never handle your sensitive information.

    As of today, all payments (except subscriptions) on Bluegrass server will happen with our new system. We think we caught all the bugs but just to be safe we are rolling things out just Bluegrass first. Once it is confirmed we will push it to the other servers.

    Subscriptions are not updated just yet. We have some interfaces we have to build to get those working, but it is the next project to happen. Once that launches the price will be increased to 9.50. We will share more information about subs once we are 100% sure that we will be giving you accurate information. One thing that is for sure is that those who have had subscriptions with us in the past will get a thank-you gift of 5BC tokens for switching to the higher price.

    Why is this update so late?

    It's no secret that this was supposed to be out in September. We ended up having to build a lot more than expected and this has been a huge project to get working. We still have to build all the subscription management features! (No more hunting for sub stuff on Paypal!) It would have been out in October but unfortunately, our daughter had a mental health crisis. For 3 weeks we fought to see doctors, to get meds adjusted to even get the medication we needed. We had insurance companies refusing, pharmacies having stocking problems, etc., and through all of this, a kid who could not go to school so I was home-schooling her the best I could. We lost 3 weeks of October. Thank you for your patience with this one. She was back at school today and we have high hopes for a much better November.

  • Yes, I wasn't planning on it, but thought it would be a good test case. At first it didn't work but then you did something and I went back to the shopping cart and tried again and it seemed pretty slick. That shopping cart kept winking at me so I knew I hadn't purchased it yet. Once the transaction went through, I got a very satisfying message that my purchase went through

  • I've just tried it out. I didn't really need anything so I just bought one GMT token for $5. I used Paypal and after logging into my account it was very easy to purchase, although I was a bit confused because it took me to a page with a button for 'Pay' and I thought I had done that already. After pressing 'Pay' it went smoothly and I got an e-mail straight away from HAJ, and another shortly afterwards from Paypal, which I need because I have to know what I have spent in GB pounds. I thought it might also be useful to know that it works outside the USA.

  • I can't afford to buy anything right now but I love the small formatting changes you made, like the darker font and lighter background for the header menu and the bounding boxes for the genes on the purchase page so it's clear what goes with what. I love how the cart menu pops in and out when I click the cart icon and the link to the purchase page right there. I did a dry run putting a pasture in my cart and like that it specifically said I was purchasing for myself, the only thing is the "edit" button beneath didn't look clickable because nothing changed when I hovered over, not the text or the cursor. But it was clickable and it brought up a field to enter a different user ID. It could be really cool someday if that could immediately show the username as well when submitted so we can be certain we've got the right number. I'm looking forward to using this system for the holidays. :)

  • If you correctly enter a user ID it tells you what player you are buying for.

    There is a lot more sophistication updates coming for this in the next few weeks. Just added clearer mouse over styling to the list. Thanks! :)

  • Hmm... I tried entering another player's ID before and again just now and see no change after hitting enter or "update," so I'm not sure if my change is confirmed or not. I clicked "checkout" to see if I'd see changes there, but I don't see any ID or name showing where the purchase would go there. Is the little arrow next to the item supposed to show details when I click on it? Nothing happens when I click on it. I still see no mouse-over changes hovering over "edit," "update," or that little arrow if it's supposed to be a button. I'm using Firefox and Edge, it was the same on both.

    Here's what the screen looks like after I click "update." I can't tell if the "update" button is really clickable or if it confirmed my changes or not.

  • i used it to buy boost tokens. i bought two 5% boosts. the transaction itself went fine, however when i went to put one of the boosts on a horse, it says i have 1 10% boost

  • @Ammit I just used the shopping cart for the first time, and the final message might be a little misleading to other people. I just bought a 110 barn and the last message said:

    1x 120 Stall Barn Add On
    $28.13 / Month

    When I first saw $28.13 / Month, I thought I was being billed that monthly. I know that's not the case, but might be misleading to other people.

  • Can we not buy the same size pastures for multiple people? I tried buying 2 30 pastures,but they won't list as single items so I can have them going to different players.

  • There used to be an option with PayPal to pay in installments. Is this new shopping cart independent of PayPal even though it accepts PayPal? Wonder if we could get this back, or was it not a good business option (like did you not get your money upfront?)
  • @CheshireFarms When you pay in installments with PayPal, PayPal pays the total up front and then you pay PayPal back. It's basically financing from PayPal.

  • I know we're still working out the kinks, but this new payment processor doesn't give us the same abilities as before. We can't hold stuff in our shopping basket for the sale price (which I understand wasn't your intention in the first place). We can't un-group Stables and Pastures when buying for multiple accounts (so we get less GMT's). And we don't have the same PayPal payment options as we used to. Sometimes I feel more comfortable dividing my $200 purchase into 4 payments instead of all at once. Specially when we only have sales twice a year.
  • I don't have the ability to do that. We use a different payment processor now. I don't control if they let you do installments or not.

    We will work on the cart but we have been busting our asses on the cart since August and we are exhausted and need to take care of some vital and time-critical things for our family right now. I am asking you to please extend us some grace in this. We are doing the best we can.

  • Oh I see now...you have to purchase it for someone else FIRST and then if you add it again it generates on the line below. But you can't do it if you add it as yourself first.
  • Will you have a Google card option too at some point? I use the google card alot, since I don't like having a credit card attached to my phone or tablet, thanks, Kat

  • We just fixed an issue with premium renewals not tracking but I was not aware of any issues with purchases made by other people until now.
