It needs the black genes. Chestnut Chinchillas turn all white.Thanked by 1OopsDotCom

Thank you for your help. Got that fixed.Post edited by OopsDotCom at 2023-11-19 21:16:46

Do I need splash maybe?
-
DMSP, like most of the phantom genes needs fairly large white areas to show properly. Occasionally, high leg white from W20 will allow minimal expression, but generally splash or one of the kit spotting genes (tobiano, sabino, or white) is needed. Appaloosa does not work with the phantom genes at all.Breeding high quality Sheldasen horses in all the fancy colors.

If you gmt the Splash (sire side) you should get some good DMSP markings.Thanked by 1OopsDotCom

What is the code for splash, please?

Well I'm not impressed. I think you will need to click on the link to see the current colors, she didn't update here yet. Do I need a second SW1 or larger white factor or something else? I want more dmsp.Post edited by OopsDotCom at 2023-11-21 22:34:59

Your images are cached. It is updated just fine.
I am not sure why you are expecting to see loud diamond sparkle from a horse whose entire line is very subtle diamond sparkle.Need to contact me? Read this first.
I sometimes get busy and miss things. If your private message, question, etc. gets missed please ping me so I can follow up with you. I am also always happy to explain or clarify. (HAJ does not have a customer service email, please send me a forum message! )

I guess I expected to see some along the line where the white of her tummy meets the gray of her back rather than just a couple on her legs.Post edited by OopsDotCom at 2023-11-22 20:29:16

So breeding for DMSP when I'm breeding for Hom Chinchilla is a waste of time then?
-
If you want Loud DMSP markings you need a darker base color.
Here is a Black Tobiano :

How did the one I posted just above end up with a darker shade of gray?
And how do I get the splash up on his belly?Post edited by OopsDotCom at 2023-11-23 20:02:14 -
The foal has ND1 which lightens the base coat.
You may want to reroll the image a few times to get a louder splash expression, as the white factor is already at extensive.Post edited by bluchrystals at 2023-11-24 03:33:44Thanked by 1annismyrph -
The older horse you posted is brown, while the foal is a bay with only one sooty. To get the darker color on your chinchillas you need hom sooty and/or DP bays/browns or silver black. Remember chinchilla removes ALL the red pigment, so the more black pigment you start with the more color is left by the chinchilla.Breeding high quality Sheldasen horses in all the fancy colors.

Thank you for the help.
Dense Pheomelanin says it adds red, not black. I think I better stop before I get more confused instead of less.Post edited by OopsDotCom at 2023-11-24 21:11:08
