Didn't pass sba

She passed BA, tested superior to dam, so I maxed her and she didn't pass sba. Actually (blush) I did this with 3 fillies. Just when I think I have something figured out.... -
I bought one from the auction, did some GMT work a but didn't realise she hadn't been sent through breeding advice....ouch!
But yes I'd probably assume better than parent would mean it would pass. Is the stalion much better than the mare? -
Are you sure she passed BA? The sire is loads better than the dam, so I feel like she wouldn't have passed BA. She is still significantly worse than her sire, so I can see why she failed SBA.

Breeding advice works differently from SBA. Every cross can produce a foal that passes SBA. Some crosses can never produce a foal that is capable of passing SBA because the breeding is so uneven. That is the case here dam is just to week by comparison.Need to contact me? Read this first.

@humboldt, yes, i do BA first on all of the foals like this, and am left with a very few in this kind of breeding. Then i look at them and check for desirability. then i do breeding inspection... if I like the results, well, this time anyway, i tried to max them. Expensive show horses.
@Ammit, how does BA work differently from SBA? Thank you! -
BA passes if the foal is a good foal for that cross. As long as the foal is close enough to the maximum breeding ability it will pass. SBA directly compares the foal to the parents. If the foal is not as good as or better than BOTH parents it will fail. The only exception is cap-quality foals which always pass.
BA = Given the the possible outcomes from this cross is this a good foal?
SBA =Does this foal compare as good as or better than both parents?Post edited by Ammit at 2024-03-24 09:26:38Need to contact me? Read this first.
