Closed! Light in the Dark Giveaway! 30 horses, 6 different BCs!
-
As part of the moving sale, I purchased several different herd helpers, and wanted to spread the love with those who need it. The community Ammit built has brought me so much joy in dark times, and was the unlikely catalyst that lead me to meet my best friend @oatsman. Hunt and jump has been something to look forward to when I have a bad day, or need something to take my mind off the almost constant negativity that finds a home in my head on dark days. I have struggled most my life with mental illness, and I've come to find that sometimes we just need a little "light in the dark" to guide us to greener pastures, so to speak.
Thank you @oatsman for being my light in the dark. Things may seem hopeless sometimes, but I know you'll be there whenever I'm lost. :x
To participate, please share a short story of something that has given you hope. It could be anything, a person (or animal!) that has helped you, a place you go to find solace, a video game or book that brings you joy.
Post the horse you'd like to adopt and your id number so I can add you and the pony to my chat.
The giveaway will run as long as supplies last. The horses are first come first serve, if your desired horse has already been adopted, you can pick any other available :)
The available horses for adoption are listed in this barn!
Examples of the available BCs listed below!

-hugs- I hope things get better for you. This community always cheers me up!
My daughter gives me hope always. I suffer from depression and anxiety. Throw in a move 1000 miles away and a husband who travels for work and times have been challenging lately. But I look at her and know I have to be a strong role model for her and she keeps me going every single day! :x
I’d love to adopt this one:

If I've learned one thing, everything gets better with time :x I'm glad even through your challenges you can find comfort in your family!
Also great choice, that one was one of my faves!

I would love to take this girl home.
In 2020, I lost my horse, and my two dogs. It was a devastating year for me and I struggled to find myself. I lost all the things I loved to do, trail riding and hiking with the dogs. It was difficult to find joy in life. I kept hoping for something to change. In 2022 I finally got the news that I was approved for a new puppy. He brought so much happiness into my life. I have jumped fully into the dog sport world with him and have found my joy again. He was everything I hoped for. -
I am so sorry to hear about your loss, @Humboldt. My family has an older dog, Ember, who is 14 and starting to really slow down. I try and cherish every moment I have with her and my other dog, Nuka. Losing a member of your animals family is certainly life changing as you get used to living without them. I'm so glad you got a new pup in your life, and if you can, please share pics!Post edited by Cherobird at 2024-03-03 17:33:09

I would love to adopt this lady.
In the last 13 years, a lot has happened to cause grief and stress, and it's increased my depression and anxiety. I find comfort, primarily, in my family. My parents especially know and love me, and we're more than just parent/child; we've become really good friends as I've grown to adulthood. They're my steady safe place, and we are all able to tell each other anything and everything. I'm quite sure I wouldn't have survived the last few years without them. -
A lot of us got detached after everything that's been happening in the world lately, but I'm happy to hear you find respite in and enjoy spending time with your family, @MackZ. Having people you trust and love is important to keeping us healthy. Love really is the best medicine sometimes :xThanked by 1MackZ

Hope.. I have a lot of nieces and nephews that I have watched grow up, and sadly, pick terrible partners, make bad decisions, and it is so sad to watch them live their lives.
I have a half brother ( my father's son from a woman not his wife oops) who I visited last week on a quick trip. I hadn't seen him or his family for 20 years.
Two of his children give me immense hope. His oldest daughter (who I had despaired for) put herself through college as a single mom and is now an executive.
His son has managed to get into the field of heavy trucks mechanic and is doing really well. These kids give me hope

2023 Has been a heartbreaker year for me its been very hard
i moved away from my adopted family & Friends. my Mom Passed in march. My Brother decided that i was not his Blood Family he has severed all communication with me. my most loyal companion Toby passed in November. it's funny how a dog can keep you on track make you go on with your life. when he passed i fell to pieces.
then a stray cat had her kittens i started feeding them making shelters for them i call her kittens the 3 Amigos. they have given me purpose again to feed them on time to take care of them they bring me joy and Hope that yes, its hard sometimes we mourn for those that are no longer with us. And that there is Hope that we can continue for another day.

@Fiddler that's great to hear your niece and nephew are doing well and succeeding in life! I am closest with my aunt who lives in Florida out of all my family, and I know how much it means to me to hear from her. I'm glad you have faith in the younger generation when a lot of people have given up on them. :x
@Leefe, I'm so sorry you've had to endure so many hardships in the past year, but I'm glad you've found your furry "lights in the dark"! I think its funny how sometimes animals can give us so much to look forward to. The cat distribution system works in mysterious ways, but always seems to send furry little gifts when we need them most. If you can, please share pics of the 3 Amigos and Mama! -
@cherobird, thanks for the nice horse!

Still 25 left! Updated everyone with some fancy member created backgrounds to show them off too :)
@fiddler, you're very welcome! -
Ever since COVID hit, its been very emotional and challenging for me , my Husband works in the School system for IT Tech and was considered an essential worker; so I had that fear every day he would get sick ( he never did thank God ). He got all the vaccines and boosters as they were required for him to keep his job. I have a compromised immune system and had an allergic reaction to the flu shot, so I was unable to get the vaccines. Welp, I got COVID and it put me in bed for literally a month. I thank God every day my husband was able to care for me, and work while i was delirous with fever. I also am very thank ful for my cats as they made sure i was cuddled with through out all of it.
I would love to have this filly if she is still available :

I lost my Golden Retriever this January at the age of 13. She had degenerative myelopathy that was diagnosed late, too late to really delay its progression. We woke up on a Sunday morning and she had completely lost function in her hind end overnight. The look in her eyes said she was ready. While I know it was the best decision for her, and she had a great life full of love and care, I miss her terribly. She was my soulmate through and through.
I rescued a puppy December of 2022 and it’s been a long, difficult road with her but she’s turning into a wonderful dog and loyal companion. She’s not the same as my Paisley was, but she has helped me realize I can open my heart to another and love them for who they are, instead of loving them despite not being Paisley.
This is Pepper. My best guess about her breeds are Jack Russell and Cattle Dog. She is the silliest, goofiest dog I have ever had, and she is insanely smart. She’ll be 2 in June.
I would love this lovely lady if that’s okay.

@annismyrph I'm so sorry to hear how sick you got, but I'm glad your husband was there for you! I had all my shots and still got it (3 times now ugh), and I got so so terribly sick too. It's absolutely miserable! I can only imagine how bad it was for you, being immune compromised! I hope you never have to go through that again! Sometimes the people closest to us do the most for us when we're down and out :x please stay safe and healthy!
@AlAsseelStable it is always so difficult when we lose our soul pets. We're trying to enjoy the last bit of time we have with our oldest, Ember. Nothing can ever really replace them in our hearts, but sometimes another special animal comes into our lives when we need them most. After having to put my two childhood dogs down within a month of eachother, I really didn't think I'd have another pet like them, but here i am 12 years later with their "twins". Even my parents say I couldn't have picked two more similar dogs on purpose. Sometimes life works in mysterious ways. I wouldn't trade them for the world. Thanks for the picture too, what a goofy goober of a pup! Even though they are only here for a small portion of our lives, we are their entire WORLD!Post edited by Cherobird at 2024-03-22 19:06:58Thanked by 1GoldenHeartAcres -
I have been really really stuck in a lot of ways in my career, which has led to a lot of self-doubt and just feeling really useless and like I wasn't going to get to where I wanted to be in life. I was in a coffee industry career, which was starting to feel kind of dead-end cause of some stuff I was dealing with in regards to my boss, who for some reason, decided I wasn't trustworthy anymore (for literally no reason). I was getting pretty fed up, my wrists were hurting, my knees were hurting, and I just felt very underappreciated and taken for granted.
A dear, wonderful friend of mine, who is absolutely one of the lights in my dark, suggested I apply to a horse-related job at a nonprofit her mom volunteered at. I didn't end up taking the job, but it started me down a path of trying to find a horse-related career. I've been working for an Arabian show barn for the last two and a half years, I'll be attending our Nationals this year, and I'm starting my own riding lesson and training program next month! If my friend hadn't pushed me to get out of my comfort zone, I hate to think how awful I would be feeling.
If this filly is still available, I would love her!

@Cherobird; Thank you so much for this pretty girl!

@WitchwaterAcres I recently moved positions as well after being in the trenches of a call center for 11 years! It took a lot of convincing from my own friends (and a lot of pep talks) from my friends to push me to move. Change is always scary, but sometimes it's what you need to become the best version of yourself :) i didn't go far from the call center unfortunately (i was a supervisor, now I help run the mission control center of 10 other call centers across the globe - i jumped out of the trenches and didn't get very far, but the grass is a little greener here at least LOL), but I'm hopeful that one day I'll save up enough to start a little hobby farm and get a few horses. It must be so gratifying to do something you love, especially with animals. Let me know how the training program goes! Are you training people, horses, or both? :))Post edited by Cherobird at 2024-03-23 16:19:50

That's fantastic though! It helps when your work is more appreciated and you feel like you're contributing something! A hobby farm would be so fun though. What kind of horses would you want to get?
But yeah, I really do love what I do now! I teach riding lessons, and then I work with horses too - putting babies under saddle, dressage, basic rail work currently. My program will be a little more holistic and a little less breed circuit :))Formerly OscarWildin

I started this game in the crazy of COVID. We had entered lockdown, I was working from home canceling everything for the remainder of the season. As time progressed they eventually eliminated my dept and my job. During this time, my soul horse, who I had been working off the purchase price in labor, was sold out from under me to someone who just wanted a gray Arabian, did not even get to know him, he just clicked the box on color and they had a lot of cash in hand.
As we were still in COVID lockdown jobs were not exactly easy to find. I spent hr upon hr in the game, it kinda became my 'job' something to do everyday, sometimes for hrs, and it was horsey and had 'arabians'. As the months went on and I sunk deeper and deeper. I have battled depression most of my life, things were dire. But as long as I have my animals I know I will not do anything crazy.
A job finally came along, and in time I eventually came back to the place where I worked pre-COVID, with a bigger job and bigger salary, but a whole new set of challenges, primarily my direct boss.
Silly how much of an impact a game can have, but it is a constant. I am busier now and sometimes miss checking in daily. I did check in during downtime at Scottsdale this year and got some ribbing from teammates, but when I showed them all the different breeds we have now, and based on genetics, well, maybe we will see one or two in game eventually.
If she is still available I would love this girl.
Thank you Cherobird!

@WitchwaterAcres that sounds really cool though! Teaching people (and animals) can be really fulfilling. It's awesome to see how far they've come after a year or two :)
I would love to adopt a retired draft or two, and get a mule (or two.. or three..) I love the big breeds, and a good draft mule with those huge floppy ears? I would die to have one!
@Wldmstnglvr I'm so sorry you lost your job and soul horse, but I'm glad youre back with more salary LOL! I always get nervous around layoffs since they roll around every year no matter what, but covid was super hard on everyone i think. Maybe at some point you can get in contact with the person who bought your baby, and buy him back?
As for HaJ, I love the community here and we're always here if you need someone to talk to. Not only that, but playing the game is just stress relieving in general, i think. I love the breeds, the colors, different patterns, naming ponies, ordering them into certain barns or programs, HaJ is perfect for zoning out and just enjoying pretty things. I get kinda "zero thoughts only ponies" sometimes :))Post edited by Cherobird at 2024-03-24 19:09:07 -

A story of hope.
I live in a senior's complex, where no pets are allowed. For several years, after losing my 2 beloved dogs before I moved here, I've had no one to love me. All I can do is hope and pray that somehow, some day, I will get another dog. That's going to mean finding a place to rent and income to take care of utilities. They seem to be insurmountable odds, yet hope still unceasingly flourishes that my dream will come true.
Adding a horse to my family seems like unable to come true, but there is hope for that too. I've never had a horse. I probably have hurdles to get over that I can't even imagine. All I can do is ask my friends a zillion questions about their horses.Post edited by OopsDotCom at 2024-03-27 21:31:55 -

I lost my grandpa a year ago next month. For months my grandma was depressed. Until we found her dog at a rescue in September. That little white dog has helped a lot, it gave me hope she would be ok. And she has been, that little white recuse dog I named Rosie has helped her tremendously. In December I moved in with her to help take care of her.Licensed for Mushroom,Onyx, Watercolor, Ice 13, ice 16, Phantom lace, Phantom Diamond sparkle. -
Sorry i was a bit behind on giving out ponies guys!
@OopsDotCom I hope your dream comes true! My grandma collected a menagerie of strays, and even hid her own pet cats whenever the inspection person came through. Not saying you should but.... Where there's a will there's a way lol! I've also never had my own horse either, I've only ridden as a kid in summer programs. I can't have a horse where I live now, but maybe one day! I've heard of programs where people bring horses and other exotic animals into senior complexes and hospitals as a sort of therapy, maybe ask around and see if that's an option where you live!
@GildedFire I'm glad your grandma is doing a lot better! I'm sure she's so grateful for her new pup and your help. That's so sweet that you're helping her, that alone gives me hope :x a lot of older people don't have family nearby to help care for them, or some have lost touch with their families. I'm sure she appreciates all you do for her. -
Thank you, Cherobird, and thank you for the beautiful horse.

Last chance to grab up these beauties! If the remainder aren't adopted up in a week or two, I'm going to release them into the auction for the gift exchange :D

I have a lot of health problems which can be very depressing at times. My son and his family came down for a rare visit. As I sat with my grandson talking about all kinds of things, He suddenly hugged me and said Grandma, I will always be here for you.
My mood was immediately lifted with those few words. Even though we don't get to see each other he still shows me so much love. Kenny is very outspoken and you never know what he will say. He saw a banner on my wall that his dad won showing in 4H. He said Grandma what is that? I said your dad won that showing rabbits. He looked at me and asked what was he showing them? I had to laugh and then explained to him about how to show rabbits. The time I spent with him made me feel so good that the day was a lot brighter
If the mare is available I would love to have her

I have been struggling with kidney failure since 1997. I almost lost my life to it. I got better then had a transplant. In 2012, i lost that transplant. The center where i was at kept me depressed and refused to help me keep my labs where they should be to help me towards another transplant. for 10 years, i had no hope.
I came to my new center about 2 1/2 years ago. they gave me hope again and a means for another transplant. i was just approved last week! so now its a waiting game
I would love to adopt this guy

I can't believe I only just saw this.
In 2015, I had an ectopic pregnancy. I lost my right fallopian tube, my child (who remarkably was still alive in my ruptured tube), and two and a half liters of blood. My husband and I desperately wanted children, but my missing tube made it incredibly difficult to conceive. I also had a case of PTSD and was terrified I was dying and that in becoming pregnant again, it would be another ectopic, which is actually not uncommon.
Two years later, we saw a specialist and were given a fertility drug. After one cycle of that, my first daughter was conceived. After a scary and difficult labor and an emergency c-section, she was born on July 4th, Independence Day in the states.
In the following years, we wished for a sibling for her, so I made an appointment with the fertility doctor again, but covid struck and my appointment was non essential, so it was canceled. Surprisingly enough, I was able to fall pregnant naturally, and here's the kicker, the baby came from the side with no tube and basically willed herself in existence, which makes sense because my second daughter is very stubborn. She was gifted to me on Mother's Day.
They give me so much hope. By some accounts, we shouldn't we be here. The odds were against all three of us at some points. But we all made it. And I would truly do anything for them.
I will take this lovely horse,

Hello,
I’m new to the game and so far I think I’m hooked. Thank you for offering such a giveaway. I also fight back depression and I think offering a way to help keep the mind busy helps keep the dark thoughts at bay. My light in the dark is definitely my son. It gives me a lot of happiness to have the opportunity to enjoy life again through his eyes.
I would love to adopt this horse. The background she is in reminds me of a walk through a peaceful forest.
