futurity and other breeding goals?
-
Hello,
Been offline for quite some time and trying to catch up and get familiar with the game again!
I've seen the term futurity thrown around a lot and am wondering what it is? I know it's to do with breeding just not too sure.
I'm also wondering what kind of breeding goals people have? is it usually just colour or are there other factors? Want to make a plan for myself but not really sure what my options are.
Thank you! -
The futurity can be found on the clubs page, it is based on eras where stallions compete to produce offspring that are the best at showing. (Based on all time points earned by the stallion's top 10 foals).
Foals bred by you do not count so thats where the community comes in. They breed their mares and raise the foals for showing until they're 6yrs old. Foals have to be the same era as their sire or they do not count towards futurity. You can not swap stallions with someone and show the offspring, so if you have owned the stallion before you can not compete with the offspring.Post edited by BarnRaised at 2024-04-01 12:12:48 -
Thank you! sounds like something fun to aim for.
Would foundations have a disadvantage so compared to lined horses? -
No, foundations do just fine, especially if you can get others to breed to them.
You can win a lot of gmts by owning foals from a popular stud, no matter if it's triple boosted or just a foundation.
The hard part is getting people to work with you, but it looks like this season more people are getting involved than ever beforePost edited by Fiddler at 2024-04-02 17:08:56 -
You might also want to check up on the Breed Characteristics if you don't already know about them.
