Why is DFP1 not allowed for open breeding?
-
Especially since we started doing futurity, I've noticed that it's difficult, you have to find a room to put the stud in...
What is the reason for that ? -
Both DFP1 and 2 were orginally released as " limited" genes I think, DFP1 is still an Orange gene and 2 is still Purple which limits them for breeding as well as sales.
-
I think it's so that players don't take advantage of other players, especially newbies, and sell non-licensed yet purchase only gene horses for a lot of money. That was a problem with nexus when it first came out.Thanked by 1Ammit

@cavalynn, sell non licensed yet purchase only gene horses? I don't understand
-
"Purple Genes require a gene license to purchase, Orange Genes can only be purchased privately or via the auction. Glowing Genes are fantasy genes."
A gene will get orange status if I belive it will or it has in the past caused problems with people using them to scam new members into thinking they are high value.Post edited by Ammit at 2024-07-04 21:25:01Need to contact me? Read this first.
I sometimes get busy and miss things. If your private message, question, etc. gets missed please ping me so I can follow up with you. I am also always happy to explain or clarify. (HAJ does not have a customer service email, please send me a forum message! )

I mean, orange genes don't require a license, but they also aren't available for game cash, they're purchase only. So new players might be willing to pay more than the horse is worth just to get the gene.
-
Yes, you can buy them with game cash. The only limitation is you can't post them on the sales board.Need to contact me? Read this first.

Orange genes are higher value because we have to pay actual money for them. Sure you can buy them in game for game credits, but that's like...2x a year maybe?
But I don't understand how taking it to a chat room prevents a player from 'scamming' another member?
But DFP1 is fairly common now, and we haven't had a gene added to the game in a really long time. So maybe the orange gene rules are outdated?
I get Fiddlers frustration, I've said it before that those restrictions take away from peoples ability to actually search for our horses. And the forum search function doesn't work well enough to search specifically for a DFP1 stud. -
Chocolate is an orange gene that is always available for GMTs. I had forgot.
-
CheshireFarms - It's as simple as you have not played the game long enough to have seen it firsthand. The public sales board has always been the only place that has caused issues. By the time a member is savvy enough to be talking to other members, and know how to use private sales or own one of their own they tend to be savvy enough to know what makes a good horse. Public sales are the only problem child.
Sometimes genes drop off the orange list over time. But no orange genes as a concept are not outdated. We have them BECAUSE we had/have a problem that they control.
And no you don't always have to pay USD for them. Orange status has nothing to do with that. The only restriction is you can't put them for public sale because they have or have the high potential to cause these issues.Post edited by Ammit at 2024-07-05 20:27:13Need to contact me? Read this first.

If people want to petition DFP1 to be removed from orange gene status I would be willing to consider (with the caveat that if it causes problems it would go back.)
Nexus will never be allowed on the public sales lists again. It was just a sea of garbage quality, untested nexus horses listed for a million of hbs with new members buying them thinking they had somehow scored something rare and valuable that would make them a fortune. It was crushing to these players when they realized they had purchased total junk and been scammed. God damn beany babies of the game lol.Post edited by Ammit at 2024-07-05 19:48:31Need to contact me? Read this first.

I think DFP1 could be safe to come down from orange status. It's not fantasy so maybe it won't seem as shiny to new players. Although, S+ isn't fantasy and I remember when I started out, I would have paid anything for any horse with S+. It was just impossible for me to get for so long. It's weird to think because I'm swimming in it now.

I would love if DFP1 came down from being orange!

well me too!
