Valdemar White Riding Horses - Program Closing

With the introduction of Breeds, I'm so happy to combine my favorite Authors (Mercedes Lackey & Larry Dixon) with this game. If you like fantasy, magic and horses that aren't horses (iykyk), you'll love the World of Valdemar. All Valdemar Whites have this fantasy butterfly tattoo.

    About Our Breeding Program

Valdemar Whites (called Companions in the books) are magical spirits that take on the form of horses. Each horse is unique and typically has an ability they are best suited at. I liked the idea of somehow creating this "inheritable ability" by manipulating the genetics. Each foundation horse is homozygous for a different gene, so that gene will always be associated with their line.

    image
    VW Rolan

Rolan is one of the original Grove-Born Companions in the series and is described as "something special." He is known for great Endurance and Stamina, with a little bit of Magic. Because he is Grove-Born, he is homozygous for Agouti Promoter (+) and heterozygous for the wild Pangare (+). These genes represent his ancient ties to the wild magic in the land.

    image image

VW Florian and VW Dallen are our foundation stallions. While they are not the "grove-born" of the series, they are two of our favorite stallions in the series.

Florian's line carries W20, and his line is considered to be Mages. He's very gentle and quiet, with a love for learning and teaching others. He can often be found hanging around with our orange barn cat. Dallen's line carries Champagne, and while he doesn't have a magical ability to pass on, his line is highly intelligent and extremely athletic. Unlike Florian, Dallen is a bit full of himself, and he loves showing off for the ladies. He's also a bit of a trickster and likes to tease others. But he makes up for it for his addiction to apple hand pies.

Lyspeth's line carries Pangare (P), she has a sweet disposition and is still rather young, so she hasn't come into her abilities quite yet. Kalira's line carries Black (a), and she has a mage ability for fire starting. Not something you necessarily want in a barn, but she's actually very well controlled. Kalira is flirty but incredibly loyal to her people. She's not the easiest mare to breed, and her Firey temper can come out with young stupid stallions. Cymry's line carries Roan, and has great agility. It's funny that for her size, she is such a light-footed mare, and can easily sneak up on you in the pasture. One minute you are filling the pasture troughs, and the next there is a muzzle are your ear begging for treats. Sayvil's line carries Dun, and like Florian is considered a Mage. She is our old soul, and a no-nonsense kind of mare. We like to throw her in with the yearlings every now and then to teach them some manners. Gwena's line carries Flaxen (f), and she is considered a Mage as well. In the pasture she is very shy, but under saddle her confidence shines, and she puts her whole heart into every task. Gwena is the only Grove-Born mare, and as such she has ties to the ancient wild magic.

    Bloodlines and Associated Genes

Agouti Promoter (+) - line Rolan
    Black (a) - line Kalira
    Champagne (Ch) - line Dallen

    Pangare (P) - line Lyspeth
Pangare (+) - line Rolan (wild magic)

Florian's line carries W20, and his line is considered to be Mages. He's very gentle and quiet, with a love for learning and teaching others. He can often be found hanging around with our orange barn cat. All foals with W20 descend form the Florian line.
Foals that test as heterozygous for W20 will have a magical aptitude for Mage Craft, while those that test as homozygous for W20 will excel in Mage Craft.

  • :x This is very enjoyable to read.
    Thanked by 1CheshireFarms
  • VW Florian and VW Dallen have been put up for stud in the Era 13 chatroom for $250hbs each.

I have loved creating the Valdemar Whites so much in this game, I added 3 more breeds from the Mercedes Lackey World of Awesomeness. I probably won't do anything with them unless the release of new breed art.

    Other Valdemar Inspired Breeds
Shin'a'in (had to spell it Shinain)
    Ashkevron
Kirball (going to be a Riding Pony I think, like a Polo Pony but with obstacles designed for wartimes)

    VW Rolan

Rolan's line carries Agouti Promoter (+) and Pangare (+), and his line is considered to be one of the original Companions. His intelligence and stamina are unmatched, he can also do a big of Magic but is not the best at it. He's very old soul, and sometimes can be a bit of a grump when it comes to dealing with young horses. He is however a patient and steady teacher for new riders, and we often enjoy taking him out on trails. He is HET for Pangare (+), as a way to tie him to the Old World Magic. All horses with Agouti Promoter (+) or Pangare (+) descend from the Rolan line. Foals that inherit Pangare (+) from this line are bound to go on and do great things. While foals that inherit Agouti Promoter (+) will have great stamina and endurance.

    VW Gildi 2g

Gildi passed SBA and tested Superior to her Dam VW Cymry. Both her sire and dam are considered highly intelligent, which should be amplified in Gildi. She also shows an aptitude for Agility and Surefootedness.

    image image
Her sisters VW Daryann 2g and VW Elvida 2g also passed SBA but tested AGA to their Dam. They both have an aptitude for Magic, Intelligence and Surefootedness, and will be offered for sale.

    VW Halleck 2g

    VW Florian x VW Lyspeth
    Second Generation Valdermar White

Halleck is like an old soul in a young stallions body. He is gentle and sweet, surefooted and supportive. He makes a great mount for younger inexperienced riders. And he has this uncanny intelligence for figuring things out. When paired with his magical abilities inherited from his sire, and he may end up a sneaky little troublemaker.

Halleck is being offered for sale.

  • How come you're getting rid of your horses?

  • @Fiddler because adulting is a PITA. I have too many programs to keep up with in the game, and too much to do outside of the game. It takes a lot of time to set my programs up the way I would like, and something has to give. I don't want to give up on the game because I have a lot of time and money invested in it, but at the same time I'm putting too much time into the game and my reality is suffering.
  • Aww I like your stories.
I'm kinda in the same boat, this game takes a lot.. to do it right
