Breeding cap
-
I’ve seen references to a breeding cap and I’m not sure I understand how it works. What is the cap? Is it breeding ability, PT, or both? Are there different caps for different eras? And how do you know if you hit it?
-
I also would like to know if what I think "cap" is ; is actually what it is lol .. I think Ammit recently said PT "cap" was 15 or 15.5 when double boosted and maxed.
-
Breeding cap is the highest you can go without boosting
-
PT isn't capped directly, only indirectly because cap breeding quality horses can only throw foals with so high a PT.
-
And you don't know.. I thought I knew, had had a string of colts that tested aga each other, all at cap, then one didn't pass sba
-
Well, @@cavalynn when we get to that lofty level, that's when I do the most comp testing because I hate to pay the unneuter price. Probably not logical?
-
All foals with a *** parent that pass SBA are cap breeding quality. All that fail are not. If you are at the level that you are getting cap quality foals there probably is no reason to keep non cap quality foals intact.Need to contact me? Read this first.
I sometimes get busy and miss things. If your private message, question, etc. gets missed please ping me so I can follow up with you. I am also always happy to explain or clarify. (HAJ does not have a customer service email, please send me a forum message! )

Sage advice, thanks
-
Is that the only way to get "cap" breeding quality? To have a *** boosted/maxed Parent? Thanks!
-
@annismyrph I don't think it's the only way, but it might be the only way to be certain the horse is cap.
-
It is not the only way. You do not need boosted horses to hit cap.Need to contact me? Read this first.
