Embryo Creation & Implantation Updates
-
Embryo creation is now entirely on the horse page breeding tab and I wanted to give a run-down of how it works now.
___________Don't know how to see what straws/eggs/embryos you own? Click on "Owned Genetic Material" to see a full list. You can find this link in the breeding tab or in the navigation bar.
___________Creating Embryos
There are three ways to create an embryo now:
Straw with a mare you own:
1) Navigate to the page of a stallion you want to make a straw from. If you own this stallion and don't have a straw yet you can collect one now. If you already own the straw you are ready for step 2.
---You must go to the stallion/gelding's page. You do not need to own the horse and it does not need to be living.
2) Select the "Create an Embryo" button.
3) Pick the mare you want to use from the drop-down.
4) Select which of the straws from this stallion you want to use and hit "Create This Embryo"
5) Your embryo will appear automatically in the "Embryos" bin at the bottom of the page.
A mare you own with a straw
1) Go to the page of the mare you wish to collect an embryo from.
2) Go to the Breeding tab.
3) Select the "Create an Embryo" button.
4) Pick the straw you want to use from the drop-down and hit "Create This Embryo"
5) Your embryo will appear automatically in the "Embryos" bin at the bottom of the page.
Bulk Combing Straws and Eggs Together
1) Navigate to the horse page of either the straw or egg.
---You must go to the horse page of either parent. You do not need to own the horses and they do not need to be living.
2) In the "Gametes" bin select "Embryos from Gametes"
3)At the top of the page you will see first every straw/egg you own from the horse page you are on. Check how many you want to create embryos from.
4)Below you will see a list of straw/eggs you can combine with the above gametes. Check all the ones you want to create embryos from.
5) Click "Create Embryos"
---Note you do not need to select the same number of straws and eggs. The game will automatically figure out how many pairs it can make and only create that many.
6) Your embryos will appear automatically in the "Embryos" bin at the bottom of the page.Implanting Embryos
From the Surrogate Page
Note this is not a new method. I just think most people have never used it so did not know it was always an option.
1) Go to the page of the pair you want to carry the foal
2) Selected In-house Breeding from the breeding tab.
---Or "Breed to this Horse" if you want to use a mare up for public breeding for some reason.
3) Go to the "Horse Breeding: Embryos" bin and select the embryo you wish to use and the foal name.
4) Click "Create Foal"
From the Embryo parent page.
1) Go to the sire or dam of any embryo you own.
---See the instructions at the top of the post if you don't know how to view your embryos.
2) Navigate to Breeding tab and scroll down to the "Embryos" bin.
3) Click the Implant button of the embryo you wish to implant.
4) At the top of the page is listed every embryo you own, with the one you just selected listed first. Followed by related embryos then every other embryo you have.
5) Select a surrogate mare to carry the embryo. You can use mares with pasture bonus to get better foals, or university surrogates if you have no mares.
6) Name the foal and hit "Create You Foal"
...
7) You will be immediately presented with the choice to select another embryo to implant. Related embryos to your prior one are listed next followed by all your other embryos. There is no need to swap pages once you have started the implantation process.
Please note that bulk implantation is not currently in the cards due to technical limitations.Known Issues
1) Please be aware that If you are doing several steps in a row with no page loads you might have old messages like egg collection fees that stick around at the top of the page. Just letting you know I am aware of the issue, it does no harm and is not charging you (it is just the original message does not delete).
2) Right now toggling the straws/egg in the bulk embryo collection also toggles the gamete bin lower down. Similarly, this does no harm and is just a visual error.
I will work on getting both of these addressed as soon as I am able. They are just fiddly and I would rather get the update out than delay it another day over this.Post edited by Ammit at 2024-08-25 23:21:12Need to contact me? Read this first.

The next feature in the works is Embryo management. Embryos are getting the same treatment as straws/eggs. You will be able to do public and private sales, labels, and expirations right from the breeding tab as well.Need to contact me? Read this first.

Wow, that's awesome! Thank you for the detailed explanations. I'm sure this will help us get used to the changes even faster, and I think the changes sound great! I've already been enjoying the embryo collection feature, and I like that all types of breeding are accessible from each horse's page now. It just makes sense in my brain.
Thank you for all the work you've been doing!Might be addicted to pixel ponies...

OK Thanks! This might actually let me wrap my head around it.

I love the bulk embryo creation! it is so much faster and easier than making them one at a time!
Having the pasture bonus from the surrogate mare stack with the AI bonus is also a huge help in getting intact foals. 21 of the 22 ex pro foundation embryos I implanted papered A/blue and were all consistent! Even the one B papered colt passed SBA and was a few days short of the full 30 days in pasture on the surrogate.Breeding high quality Sheldasen horses in all the fancy colors.

Public embryo sales are now up and working. Private embryo sales will be next on my to-do list which means the old Sell Embryo page will be removed and everything will be on the horse page breeding tab (Really it should be zero surprise at this point.)

I successfully made 2 embryos, but it quit working after that.
I select the mare, select 2 eggs, then select a stud, both with all straws selected or just 2, click make embryo from gamete, scroll all the way to the top, and mare still has the same number of eggs. Then I try again . No embryosPost edited by Fiddler at 2024-09-01 06:04:20 -
wow, i got it to work. youhave to check the right box for straws (on the horse ) not the left box.
-
I am not sure what you are talking about with right box/left box. I don't know of such a thing on the page, but if you read the error messages it will tell you why your selection does not workNeed to contact me? Read this first.

there was no error message. Right box unselect next to stud left box select all. if i click on right box, i got a row of straws to select. if i click on left box, they are all selected but they didnt combine with eggs.
Vocabulary is a problem, i agree. I look at this thing you are creating and it is so complex it makes my head hurt. I can't IMAGINE what you have to do to get it to work. -
Sounds like you may have confused the bulk select toggles with the actual checkboxes. :)Need to contact me? Read this first.

yes, that may be part of my problem.

I tihnk this might be a HUGE ask but.... will there ever be a way to bulk select straws or eggs without having to Unselect all the other genetic material? Like say you have 500 straws collected, but you only want to sell 10 privately for Futuritues.. is there going to be a way to do that without Unchecking 490 straw boxes? Maybe a quantity key within the "private" sale box where you enter player number and price?
-
@annismyrph Can't you just select the ten instead of selecting all and then unselecting the rest? If you open the full straw list by clicking the little downward arrow or the empty checkbox, it will show the individual straws you can select and they will be unselected by default.
-
Actually @Cavalynn, they are Selected by default.. you have to go down the list and UN select them
-
@annismyrph If you open the straw list with the down arrow or empty checkbox icons, the straw's checkboxes will be unselected by default.Thanked by 1Ammit

o.o I never thought to click the Arrow it self... jeeezz ... Thanks!

Got to play with this finally. I was able to create embryos with 4 different mares from purchased straws all from one page at the same time. It will definitely save me time, thank you for the updates.

Creating embryos and implanting embryos are completely different processes. You need to do both.Post edited by FogveilFarm at 2024-09-02 07:47:59FogveilFarm #262594Home of Mistwalker Warmblood and Sport Ponies - Top Tier Agouti Promoter Breed

@Leefe, you have to click the button labeled "Embryo from Gametes" first. (It's with the buttons where you sell straws/eggs, update labels, etc.) Then a breeding menu will load at the top of the page. You select the straws and eggs from that new area that loads at the top. Then once the embryos are created, you can implant them and name the foal from any breedable mare's page.

I thought maybe visuals would help, so I took some time this morning to make some screen captures. Please let me know if this helped any.
Open up your mare page, and select the Breeding Tab. You can flush 1 egg, or do a mass egg flush.
Go to your stallions page, and do the same thing, but for Straws. If you have straws or eggs available already, it will show you.
On your horses page, you will see a drop down menu. Click on the downward facing arrow or either of the check boxes to expand your eggs/straws.
Use the check boxes to select everything, unselect everything (which will also minimize your table). Or select them one at a time on the left hand side.
Easiest way to find everything is go to your Genetic Material tab on the left hand side of the navigation.
You'll see it's divided into 3 sections with Straws being first, then Eggs, and finally Embryos at the bottom. Here I removed all of mine to just show you the titles.
The easiest thing to do is find the mare you flushed eggs from, and open her page.
Go back to the breeding tab and open it up. Scroll down until you see the box that prompts you to Create an Embryo.
Once you click that, scroll back to the top of the horses page. You will be prompted to select at least 1 straw and 1 Egg. You can select more than one, just make sure they are equal parts.
Note: Depending if you are on a Stallions page vs a Mares page, you may have a different view. Mares pages will only show that mares eggs and ALL of your Straws from ALL stallions. The eggs will also be on top, with straws on the bottom. If you are on a Stallions page, you will only see straws from that stallion, and ALL eggs form ALL mares, with the stallions straws being on top.
Scroll back down the horses page until you see a button that tells you to create an embryo.
Once you click that, scroll back to the top of the page (yes I know, there's lots of scrolling back and forth). You will see a prompt similar to this, confirming you have created an embryo.
You can also scroll to the very bottom of the page and see that you have embryos now. If you want to implant said embryos, click the button at the bottom. Then scroll back up to the top again and follow the prompts (I didn't get screen captures of this part yet).Post edited by CheshireFarms at 2024-09-02 10:01:07 -
Today's change log post
9/3/2024 3:40 AM Ammit added:
All embryo functionality has now been moved to the horse page breeding tab. The old sell an embryo page has been removed. Today I added in labeling and private embryo sales. The Owned Genetic Material page has also been updated to show when an embryo is listed for public or private sale.Need to contact me? Read this first.
