Public Auction 2 minute add-on
-
So earlier today (according to the change log) there was a change made to the public auction where if a bid is made in the last 10 minutes of an auction, 2 minutes are added on the the auction time. I fully understand the reasoning behind this change, and I appreciate that it’s to help prevent bid sniping and to drive up prices for those selling. However, I’m not entirely sure how I feel about it now that I’ve experienced it.
I just got in a nearly hour-long bidding war with another player for a number of pointed rank special foundation horses. It was one of the most frustrating things - partially because I was having to use my phone, and partially because my home internet was being more subpar than usual and data signal out in the boonies is atrocious. I lost several bids simply because the page wouldn’t reload or update fast enough or because I had to click “Place Bid” 50 times before my phone decided to actually do it. My biggest frustration is that what would have used to be maybe a 10 minute bidding war at the end took me nearly an hour because the auction just kept getting extended over and over.
That being said, could limiting the total amount of time that can be added to the auction be an option/taken into consideration? Or is there another alternative that might work better? Or is this a forgone conclusion?
Thank you for coming to my TED Talk lol sorry for the lengthy post -
I am going to wait a bit before making any changes but I appreciate the feedback. Thanks for letting me know how it worked for you.
Can you please point out the specific horse you were bidding for an hour on?Post edited by Ammit at 2024-11-14 19:55:29Need to contact me? Read this first.

Here’s a few that I ended up winning the bid for but it was about 10 horses total that the bidding war was going on for

So it was not a single horse but a sizable group of very valuable horses. All these prices still seem less than they are probably worth. That seems reasonable to me. Though obviously your internet acting up made it more frustrating than it should be on your end.Need to contact me? Read this first.

Yeah, my frustration isn’t the pricing on them. It was the process and how it took so much longer and felt like a never ending cycle because I don’t think either of us really had a maximum budget. But my internet being slow was definitely not helping things

If both parties are doing the lowest possible bids and no one is willing to commit to just upping the bid and moving things along, I can see how that can make things slower.Need to contact me? Read this first.

@RedtailFoxFarm it did take forever and was utterly frustrating. After an hour I was too tired to care about the horses I won. I think I waited until the next day to sort them. I'm not sure I'll ever be interested in going through it again, but I'm glad we both won a few.
