License question
-
If Ipurchase a licensed foundation from someone, do they then loose their license for that gene?
Thanks in advance. -
No. You can only buy licenses from the game not from other players. If they gift you the foundation in the GE the license will come with but not if you buy the horse via normal means.Need to contact me? Read this first.
I sometimes get busy and miss things. If your private message, question, etc. gets missed please ping me so I can follow up with you. I am also always happy to explain or clarify. (HAJ does not have a customer service email, please send me a forum message! )

If you buy a horse with a license.. and its the only copy they have ( 1 license on 1 Foundation ) will they loose that license?
-
No. You can only buy licenses from the game not from other players. The license is not and has never been on the foundation.Post edited by Ammit at 2024-12-12 07:19:16Need to contact me? Read this first.

To put it another way: you need a license to drive a car. You can only get that license from the government. Selling your car does not sell someone your driver's license.Need to contact me? Read this first.

i think annismyrph was asking. if we have a foundation with a license, that license moves with the horse correct?
does that mean we lose the license and how will we know how many licenses of a certain gee we have? -
No. That is completely incorrect and has never been the way the game works. I will see if someone else can explain because I don't understand why people are confused.Post edited by Ammit at 2024-12-12 08:12:38Need to contact me? Read this first.

No once a person buys the license it is unlocked for them permanently. It just means that the gene is unlocked for their herd and only members who have unlocked gene can breed to the licensed horse. It is like the breed characteristics, you buy/unlock it and it is attached to your account. Hope that helps. Kat :)Bluegrass id:182429

Personal experience-- I once put a copy of mushroom on a foundation horse a while ago and didn't do much with it. He's aged out now and there's no mushroom genes left in my herd but I still have the license
-
thanks rko, yeah that makes sense. thanks for clarifying
-
When you buy a license gene and add it to a foundation, you receive a copy of the license. In order for someone to purchase the horse from you, they must already have a copy of license. Money is exchanged, the horse transfers. Seller and buyer still have their individual copies of the license. Two licensed players were involved in the transaction. No licenses are created through the transfer.
When the Random Acts of Gifting (RAoG) and Gift Exchange (GE) come into play, foundation horses can be transferred to people without a license, effectively giving the giftee the license. In order for no licenses to be created through this process, the license is removed from the gifter and transferred with the horse.
The RAoG and GE system will notify you if you are about to transfer your last/sole copy of a license away.

Thank you @ChateauAlbere... that is exactly what I was trying to find out :)
