breeding wish list
  • I know this is probably the wrong place for this, but was having a heck of a time trying to find the right one. How hard would it be to make a breeding page where it shows the stallion on the left and as you pick a mare it shows her with her info on the right. I am thinking, kind of like when you do gene mods. I would pay for a premium membership that has something like this if it weren't to crazy. I think I pay $7-8 month now. Is this possible? or am I just dreaming. I have a hard time with the size of my herd and trying to match them up. If I kept notes on everybody it would take forever and I don't even have a large stable compared to many others on here.
  • I think, if I understand the game mechanics correctly, that would cause a rather nasty pull on the server resources. Assuming it's possible programing wise.

As someone who once ran a 10k plus horse stable (no kidding), forget writing down notes. Use a spreadsheet. The game will even download your horses stats straight into a spreadsheet for you.

Then your herd becomes easy to search and organize.

I had mine set up so that I could match up all my breedings totally offline - I had all the info I needed right on the spreadsheet. I had a place for each mare to write the stallion I wanted to breed her too. When the time came, I'd sort the list by stallions, go to a stallion in the game, then reference the spreadsheet for an alphabetized list of which mares he was getting.

And there are free spreadsheets if you don't already have Excell.

  • I do what Gael does....and my barn is a lot smaller...but it makes it so much easier!
  • Another vote for spreadsheets. I'd die without them. I went without this breeding season and it was so much harder. PLUS I use tattoos for each generation so I can match lined horses easily.
  • I use a combination of having two searches open, one for the mares I want to breed and one for stallions, and use the herd download for average foal PT to check mare quality. They are all named for their generation to make it easy for me too. Seems to work ok

  • I do the two searches, but unless I am at work with two monitors it is very time consuming going back and forth. I haven't been a big fan of the spreadsheets, but will have to buckle down. They are just so time consuming if you want to put all the pertinent data into them. They don't show the lines so I am not inbreeding, they don't show the horse themselves, which doesn't make to big of a deal, but I like it, etc. I will keep on the way I have been doing it. I just thought it might be a maybe.
  • No idea what you mean by "like the gene mods" what about the gene mod page do you mean?
