First I just want to say thank you to all the members on Discord who provided feedback on this update and helped make sure it was going to work for as many players as possible.

W8 was added to the game some 10+ years ago as our first fully dynamic KIT allele. It was based on the real-life W8 gene found in a family of Icelandic horses. It was a great accomplishment and has held up pretty well but since that allele came out I have greatly improved my skills with the generator. This new version is much more realistic but keeps the original gene's many speckles.

Old Versus New
-The old generation had randomly distributed markings, the new generation has markings concentrated on the face, legs, and forehand like in real life.

-The old generation had no roan component. Since real-life W8 shows a lot of roaning I have added this to the generation. As a consideration to the breeders who are not interested in a roany look, this only happens on 50% of W8 horses. If you get a roany W8 and want the opposite reroll the seed to get a new look (and vice verse). See examples below

-Heterozygous W8 horses now have less white than the old generation. This seems to be both realistic and preferred by most players.

-Homozygous W8 horses now have slightly more white. It's very important to note that for a period there was a bug where W8W8 horses were generating as W8 instead of W8W8. If your horse's image was generated during that period you might see a big jump in white levels when it updates. If your image was generated anytime in the past 4ish months you will see a much more reasonable change in white amounts. W8W8 horses only go completely white at high white factor though so you can always edit WF down if you want more color.

-Over all the net amount of white on W8 horses has not changed just the distribution. It used to be much more random. Even her W8 horses where at risk of going all white. Now only high white factor W8W8 horses can go that white.

-W8 has always been a gene that could create nearly and even all white horses so this is nothing new with this update.

-Lethality has not been updated with this or any of the other recent KIT updates.

Like all gene combos with the updated KIT mutation order maters. The first allele is always the more strongly expressed one. Not intentional but just a side effect of how the code libraries that the generator is built on work.
