What do you breed for?
-
I did this on HaJ 2 and it was fun to see what everyone breeds for and see all the different gene combinations.
So what do you all breed for? -
I breed all the things :P But my main lines are:
KP
Brown
DP
Satin
Snowflake
And then I blow a bucket of glitter over them. Ice, RR and all the fun things.ID 195859 -
Quality.
Cobs.
Bling.
My favorite color is "Yes."
See the "My Equine Army" link below for details. ^_^Post edited by Feather Farms at 2018-06-20 17:17:43Who honors those we love for the very life we live? Who sends monsters to kill us and at the same time sings that we will never die? Who teaches us what's real and how to laugh at lies? Who decides why we live and what we'll die to defend? Who chains us and who holds the key that can set us free? It's You! You have all the weapons you need, now fight!
My Equine Army -
I love anything heavy, drafts and cobs.
I have as main lines:
KP
DP
Nexus
Satin
Then I add multiple ice, sabino and rabicano on top. -
Everything is pretty much;
Cobs
Kp
DP
Silver
Then all the fantasy genes added on top LOL
-
I breed for Appys with flare lol. A lot of fantasy genes. My favorite thing is to breed in random KP into every line. It's like a little surprise when they express down the line a few generations.
-
My main lines are Riding Horse (slowly getting my older lines into the Riding horse)
KP w SB2 W8 WM
Satin
Snowflake Appy pattern only
Appaloosa Pattern only
Macchiato
-
I breed for liver, dark bay or brown appies with bling.
I do breed for quality, though.Post edited by Forestshadow at 2018-06-20 22:23:35 -
Pearl and/or Champagne Appaloosa Drafts. With Star or Gold papers. Suffice it to say my breeding program has a long way to go yet :)Post edited by Tyanilth at 2018-06-21 00:47:51

I used to mostly breed for chocolate pallys and liver chestnut the good thing about breeding for both is you can end up with either when breeding for chocolate pallys =)
Ive just changed my direction to breeding double cream axiom and ice9
1g ice9 6434010 -
I breed Grullo with white patterns. Not so much appy and roan.
I want to see an advancement of paper levels so I have each generation housed in a separate barn so I can easily cull any but the top 2 paper levels per generation.
On top of the grullo base I have 2 lines KP and nexus/axiom. I have recently added 3 new foundation stallions between last month and this months sales.
JS The Scuttlebutt KP
Axiom blue and green
JS AX Audra The Little
My next project is GMTing some mares with different patterns to add some more variety since I used true Grullo Tobiano Splash hh’s for all my studs. I’m thinking KP, w8 and sb2Post edited by Bandit1119 at 2018-06-21 08:52:02Breeding even generation Grullos with KP, Axiom RBG & Wrong Warp, Chinnchilla, Onyx, Phantom Autumn, Bats, Ghosts, Pumpkins, Skulls & Spiders, Plaid, Watercolour genes -
I'm breeding for brown, bay, and chestnut DP trying to master dappling as well. Then adding ice, satin, Pearl, and snowflake into the mix to see how many layers I can add on.

On this server, I haven't narrowed down my interests yet, will see what the best foals I make are and go from there. I like small ponies, which don't seem to be as popular as draft horses. Totally in love with pearl, and I'm currently stalking the rescues for better quality starter stock and breeding them with rank specials to see what I get.Post edited by CarolinaAcres at 2018-06-21 13:17:25

I breed for everything, except fantasy genes.
My herd is divided into two lines. One is my heart in this game, it descends from the first horses I owned in this game, over 10 years ago. They are selected by performance only, and have splash, tobiano and silver in their genes. Those genes was quite rare 10 years ago.
The other line is a new line, that consists of every colour and almost every non-fantasy gene in this game. (I am still saving for buying KitM, the only gene that I don't have yet). I just throw all those horses into pastures by generation, and breed, and enjoy the outcome. Sometimes it becomes quite spectaular! My favourite thing is snowflake and KP. I introduced KP into my herd by adding it to horses without any other Kit-genes. So it only shows up in later generations by luck, and gives me a pleasant surprise every time!
I think this must be the absolute highlight of the new line so far:

I’ve really struggled to find something I enjoy and can stick with, but I’ve recently found some things I like. My lines have always been about Quality. But I have a new found love for classic Champange and silver buckskin. I hope to grow these lines, and add Sabino 2 and Frame into them. I also focus on my Quality lines from my Starting foundations. I also love to play with my fantasy genes.
-
I breed for snowflake, liver chestnuts/chocolate palominos, KitM, Sooty+, and recently mushroom and nexus.
I'm not picky about my lines at all. The reason I joined this game was because I wanted to get the most pretty ponies by breeding them all together. Mushroom and Nexus will probably be my most even lines, everything else is just mixed together. -
I breed for dark horses (or super diluted variations of horses that would otherwise be really dark). Dark brown, brown-based buckskins, anything with DP thrown in, all the sooty and s+, you get the drift. Then sometimes I’ll add cream and/or dun, the occasional splash of gray, or (new this season) some mushroom. Satin is a bonus in my “elite” lines and the first LE gene I ever bred courtesy of some very kind experienced members a few years ago, so it’s got a special place in my heart. Some white patterning is fun too, and my favorites are sb2, splash 2/3/macchiato, and appaloosa (especially homozygous). It sounds like a lot, but these all blend nicely and generally create a line that looks like it all came from the same barn but has enough variation to keep me entertained.
Of course, this is all secondary to improving the quality of my lines with each generation - I’m strict with who gets to stay intact for lines I care about, and everyone else becomes show ponies to support my pixel addiction. Even my bootstrap lines, which started long before that was a widely accepted way to get show horses, all go through SBA and I only keep and breed the best fillies and colts from those pairings.
