The search is s good tool to use for figuring out genetics. You can search the colours you want and look through to see similar trends or input your horses genes into the search and start changing parts until you like the looks of the horses showing up with the same genetics.
I don’t breed for brown so I went to the search and searched for brown, one of the first similarities that popped up was all of the horses had At.
Opening a horse I clicked on the A section of the genetics to pull up the description. Scrolling down I see the order of dominance “ASIPt (brown) is masked by ASIPA and ASIP+”
This leads me to believe that you need to change one of your horses AA to At and the other to a or At but my next step would be to search your horses genetics to see how one or both of those changes would change your horseBreeding even generation Grullos with KP, Axiom RBG & Wrong Warp, Chinnchilla, Onyx, Phantom Autumn, Bats, Ghosts, Pumpkins, Skulls & Spiders, Plaid, Watercolour genes -
This is my understanding of this variant of the agouti gene in horses.
Dominant agouti (AA, Aa) restricts black pigment (EE, Ee) to the points (mane, tail, and lower legs) and prevents black pigment in body hair.
Homozygous recessive agouti allows black pigment in all hair (E? aa).
At is less restrictive than A, allowing the growth of some black pigment in body hair as well as in the points when paired with recessive agouti (Ata). In AtA horses the dominant A overrides the effect of At completely. With homozygous AtAt, both copies of the agouti gene are allowing some development of black pigment in the body hairs and some restriction of black to the points, and so the horse is a lighter color than one that is Ata.
I expect that if I am wrong in my assumptions, Ammit will come and correct me.Post edited by SandyCreekAcres at 2018-07-03 06:38:33 -
Thankyou for that i was also wondering with boosting horses hpw much boosting would you need to turn a c papered into a B papered
-
It depends on the horse I think. I don’t boost so not really experienced. Is it foundation or lined?Post edited by Bandit1119 at 2018-07-04 04:34:56Breeding even generation Grullos with KP, Axiom RBG & Wrong Warp, Chinnchilla, Onyx, Phantom Autumn, Bats, Ghosts, Pumpkins, Skulls & Spiders, Plaid, Watercolour genes
