The ways your account can become associated with someone's whom you don't know, or even may not live anywhere close to all are based on how Internet Service Providers keep track of which computer is requesting which pages. The Internet works on a set of numbers called "Internet Protocol Addresses". Each ISP is assigned a certain set of these IP addresses, but they will have a lot more customers than IP numbers. This is because not all of the customers will be online at the same time.
So, when you log in to the Internet, you computer gets assigned one of the IP addresses belonging to your ISP. When you log off, that number will be assigned to another computer, just as it had probably been used by other computers before it was temporarily assigned to yours.
Because more than one computer is using the same number, HaJ accounts can become associated because the players have used computers or other devices that used the same number at different times.
This crossover can take place when your device is logged in from a public Wi-Fi, like that shared by McDonald's customers, for instance, or students at the same college or university.
It also can take place within a single ISP, especially the large regional and national services like AOL or Comcast. Blocks of AOL IP addresses are probably assigned to customers in relatively large areas of the country.
