Starting a new account to play with the breeding up aspect. I want to try using only my foundations to create an ever improving line. That's my hope anyway!

I'm 28, and currently live with my BF in Wisconsin.
Grew up around horses, the pic I tried to post is my mom's Arabian stallion TR Karho Harmony! He is the reason I'm so in love with all things horse. I'm not great at this type of game but it looks fun and I like that there is no limit on the amount of horses you can have. Any advice on the best way(s) to spend my weekly hbs? Thanks <3

Bought this beauty from someone else IDK if it's not worth anything to anyone else she is lovely in my opinion. Plus I love playing with the tack!

Hi! I joined up because it seemed really fun to attempt to get different genetic combinations, and so far it is!

Hi. Loved horses for 20+ years, like horse genetics, own a dog, friendly person.

I am confused about how points, papers, and PT scores work. I thought they were random, but it looks like breeding & such can impact them?

Points are awarded to every horse in a show, except the one that comes in last. The number of points changes with each level and grade in the showing ladder. Check out Showing-My Show Entries for a chart of all the levels, the entry fees and how many horses will be in the class. There is also a cash payout which makes a profit for the horses in the top half of the class, but that is fairly unimportant now that we have the showing bonus.

The showing bonus is a nightly pay out based on a fraction of the total points you own, divided by 7. This is the major income maker in the game, eventually.

PT scores give an idea of how many game years the horse will train and how far up the showing ladder it may climb. Horses can be shown until they age out of the game, so many make your stable the most money after they have stopped adding points to their show score.

Papers are a rough indicator of breeding ability. Since there are only four for each gender, they are fairly broad categories, and not every horse with the same paper level will have exactly the same breeding ability. You can find out more about them in the FAQ near the bottom.

Breeding ability and showing ability, especially in foundation horses (those you make using the Create A Horse page. Perfect foundations, Exceptional Producing, Exceptional Show, and Exceptionally Perfect are more closely defined. With careful breeding and culling of lower ability foals, you can achieve higher average PT scores and higher breeding ability with each generation, but there will always be variability in the results, just as in real life.

Consistency refers to how much variability there will be in the show score of a horse each week. Perfect consistency, 100%, gives exactly the same show score for both shows in the week. Horses that test "Consistent" will have scores that may vary up to 2 above or 2 below their base score. Inconsistent horses will have a wider range of possible scores. Consistent horses, bred together, are more likely to produce consistent foals, but may also give you some inconsistent ones. Inconsistent horses, bred together, are more likely to give you inconsistent foals, though a few may be consistent.

Hello everyone I just started playing today. My name is Kayla. I always enjoyed playing sim breeding games. (actually the only games I play!) I have no pets but i always wanted a dog. Maybe I will someday. But back to the point, I thank I'm really going to enjoy it here.

Well, it seems that I forgot to post here when I joined a few weeks back.

I primarily joined because my friend DixieCup is a horse person, and I like genetics, and she suggested it to me.

I've got 5 cats, 1 dog, 1 fish, and live with a whole slew of cattle, only one of which probably qualifies as a pet because she is a huge lovebug.

I'm not entirely sure what I'm doing here yet, and I need to get more practiced at telling when hidden genes are coming into play, but I'm mostly aiming for breeding heavily dappled draft horses, as tall and heavy as I can get them.

Ok. I was supposed to post here for the achievment but I was stupid and lost so ended up creating a new discussion for my intro, which is now lost too.. Oh well. Here I am :)

I love horses but have never owned nor rode a horse IRL. I also know nothing about genetics in any species, but I love playing around in genetic based breeding sims. What attracted me to HAJ is the no muss no fuss system, what I mean is there is nothing to worry about except for creating and breeding horses.. No mucking stalls, no feeding, etc etc. I am currently playing too many games so there would be no way I could have added another game that took a lot of focus.

My current focus and the game that got me playing breeding sims again (I say again because I am 30, been playing these types of games on and off since high school!) is a rabbit breeding sim called Leporidae! So, I play a breeding sim for small animals, and now I have large animals covered here on HAJ ;)

I do need more friends to share and get herd helpers with :D

Hello all -- just joined for something fun to do. My family shows draft horses but we are not into breeding them (there are so many unwanted drafts out there already in need of homes!) so this game will allow me to live out that little fantasy of running my own draft breeding farm.

Hi! My name is Fritz. I’m 21 years old and work online currently so I’m having some sudden online freetime that I haven’t had previously. I hope y’all are doing wonderfully! I’m expecting to be kind of a causal player. I love genetics games and have been involved in breeding and showing show mice irl, which is in fact a thing! Very cute cool animals, with rad genetics but obviously very different than horse raising. Because my living situation has changed I can’t do that anymore or at least not for a while, which is fine, but having online games like this and fightrising help me enjoy the challenge of making healthier animals and meeting genetic goals. It’s fun making healthier happier animals, and mice are good because there aren’t tons of unwanted ones and they serve as utility animals (utility as in prey animals for local raptors rehab groups and reptile owners) and pets so ethically I never had issues with anything I had to do for their propagation as long as I was careful and humane. I feel like I’ll never get to breed animals like horses for many reasons, besides finances and not living on a farm or anything and not wanting to contribute to unwanted horses and obviously they would be more work than rodents, so having an online simulation for one of my odder fantasies will probably be fun! I also have some other interest in horses. I have ridden horses when I was younger. I have autism and some stuff that makes it harder for my body to balance itself out and some motor issues, and horse back riding helped me learn coordination and improve my overall function very significantly. I feel kind of a special thankfulness to them for their help, similar to how I feel about my service dog in helping me gain independance. Animal human teams in all their forms are always cool to me, like service dog handler and horse and rider.
