When I put a stallion in a pasture, he's not able to breed all my mares. Does anybody have a simple guide as to how to tell which stallion/mare combinations are compatible? Is it size based? Something else?
-
@LenasHollywood make sure your stud is 3 and your mares are 4 before breedingThanked by 1ConfluenceStable

I just had a quick look at your pastures Lenas, and all the mares are bred. They can only be bred once live cover each monthPost edited by Kintara at 2018-11-18 13:24:45Thanked by 1ConfluenceStable

I understand all of those things - maybe I'm just misinterpreting what the number in parentheses after a stallion's name means wen moving him into the pasture. To be clear - is there any limit on size combinations? Can the smallest pony breed with the largest draft horse?

The number in the parentheses is the horses age
Any horse can be bred to any other horse as long as they are over 3 for studs and 4 for mares and under 20 years oldBreeding even generation Grullos with KP, Axiom RBG & Wrong Warp, Chinnchilla, Onyx, Phantom Autumn, Bats, Ghosts, Pumpkins, Skulls & Spiders, Plaid, Watercolour genes -
There is no limit on size combinations, any size stallion can breed any size mareThanked by 1ConfluenceStable

That works in real life, as well. The therapeutic riding program I volunteer with once had a lovely approximately 12.3 hand bay tobiano pony we used for riding and driving. The story we were told about his background was that his dam was a Tennessee Walking Horse and his sire was a miniature pony. I often joked that someone must have left a ladder in the pasture. :D

Northern Dancer was so short they had to build him a ramp to reach his 'intendeds'! https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Northern_DancerPost edited by ConfluenceStable at 2018-11-18 17:11:34
